Hey All,
I am still dealing with UTI. Have been on antibiotics since September. Shingles started in November. Stoma partially obstructed December. Shingles started to fade end Jan. And stoma started working again. Taking 2nd Pfizer shot on 8th. Waiting 2 weeks and then we are planning cystoscopy. I am going to have to drive myself to the doctors office. He only does it outpatient with no anesthesia. He said its only 10 to 15 minutes of "discomfort".
How bad is it really? Should I try to get something for the pain? What should I expect? Anything to watch out for? I am just concerned...

I’ve had one and it’s not bad at all. Although it was many years ago and I don’t recall if they used anything or not. Sorry I don’t remember any details! But I’m sure if it was awful I’d have a memory of it being so. I think they might use some kind of topical to deaden the area. Anyway no need to dread it as it really isn’t bad. I do recall being very interested in seeing the inside of my bladder!

Sorry to hear. By the way, have you seen a specialist to manage UTI? urogynecologists may help with chronic UTIs since antibiotics may not be the solution. Sometimes people also have IC and are over-treated for UTIs. Long-term antibiotics with UC is pretty risky. Can it be from the biologic since they increase infections and can cause LT infection (if you are on one)?

I have a Hartmanns pouch. (Part of my sigmoid they left attached to the rectum.) I also have a rectovagina fistula. The Hartmanns pouch drains mucus 5 to 10 times a day. It lands right by the urethra. The culture shows the type of bacteria located in your intestines-so they are thinking its the current fistula or that a new fistula has developed to my kidneys/bladder. My colorectal surgeon was trying to treat it with antibiotics and we hoped it would eventually clear...but with all my health issues it hasn't happened. The Remicade and Methotrexate are not helping matters either. Urologist immediately started talking about surgery to repair rectovagina fistula and remove Hartmann pouch.

I didn't have issues from 2016 to 2019. December 2019 they relocated the colostomy due to an obstruction, and they placed a mesh that is absorbed by your body to correct a hernia. The next month I started having UTIs. Nothing changed except having that surgery and mesh. I am wondering if that mesh could have caused it. I am going to go in for my medical records on Monday of next week. Right before my 2nd Pfizer shot and then the scope. No one will address if it could be the mesh. I have asked for the type and been put off by my CRS 3 or 4 times now.
I am so frustrated and scared. I hate Crohns...
