Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could share their pregnancy story while on entyvio or remicade? I am currently taking entyvio and would like to have children in the near future. I am worried about being pregnant while also being on this entyvio treatment.

Why during covid? That would be my first concern.

Over the decades here, many, many moms with IBD have had happy and healthy babies while on all combinations of meds, including Remicade and entyvio. These meds are considered to be safe for pregnancy.

It's far worse for mom to cease her meds before or during pregnancy. Why? Flaring uncontrollably can result in a pre-term birth with complications or even a miscarriage.

So people should stop having kids for 2 years...?
Actually for some people lockdown is an ideal time for being pregnant, e.g. both parents at home for childcare.
I've had several friends with covid babies and everything went fine. The only downside is not being able to visit grandparents. But now with vaccines pregnancy should be much lower risk than a year ago...

You're right...Covid is nothing to be concerned about, and its benefits are super convenient.

I didn't say it was nothing to be concerned about.....
I do think that choosing to get pregnant is a personal decision based on multiple factors.
Being vaccinated significantly reduces any risks related to covid.
Sad to say, people can loose babies for all sorts of reasons and not everyone has infinite time available to conceive.
If i were to get pregnant now I would be more concerned about my ibd than about covid....
But even then, as ipoop has posted, plenty of ibd-ers have successful pregnancies.

It's a logical question. All sorts of issues can happen when not in pandemic...but expectations of being pregnant now seems something more to consider.

I don't believe anybody puts his/her life on hold indefinitely due to covid, be that marriage, children or whatever. Seems like a pointless argument to me.

Let's get back on topic please.

Actually covid moved up my husband and I's plans to start a family for the reasons poopydoopy mentioned. We're usually busy travelling for work, with both of us at home it seemed like the ideal time.

I can't comment on entyvio because my medication is 5-asa's but I will say I had a wonderfully healthy pregnancy. My colitis went into complete remission 2 months into pregnancy and remains in remission 4 months postpartum. This might have been because pregnancy turns down the immune response, and I may still be reaping the hormonal benefits because I am nursing.

I know not every pregnant UC patient is so lucky but just here to offer a positive story. Don't let your diagnoses or covid stop you if you want to start a family. Now that I am fully vaccinated my baby is receiving protection against covid through antibodies in my breastmilk.
