Methotrexate can be hard on one's liver. Alcohol on top of that can be extra taxing to your liver. So the recommendation is to avoid alcohol. The actual amount of alcohol that is *safe* varies from person to person and can't be predicted.
Many patients on methotrexate still drink occasionally with no apparent issues. Heavy and/or frequent drinking is definitely to be avoided, but a drink or two here and there is ok *for most people.*
Best to talk to your doctor and have frequent blood tests to check your liver.
