Upcoming surgery 9/22

I'll have step 2 out of 3 now on 9/22

I had emergency surgery for blockage on 7/3 and I had my stoma first placed on 4/29

This surgery will repair the jpouch in an open surgery. Then in 2 months from then we will reverse the stoma, at least that's what is planned. So by the end of this year I will have had 4 surgeries and 7 total so far.

I'm tired and sick of this disease. I also don't want to live with a permanent stoma if the jpouch repair fails. I'm just so done.

It’s probably best for an open surgery since you had so many abdominal surgeries and scar tissues. You’ll probably have better success. It takes a little longer to recover from. You can have scar revision surgery afterwards if you want.

What type of surgery did you have for your blockage? I ended up having a stint and catheter put into my stoma to fix my blockage. I wouldn’t refer to mine as a surgery but it was a hospitalization - they did it while I was awake in my hospital bed with no additional anesthesia

I had the catheter placed many times as well and I was even taught how to do it myself and was sent home with catheters. It's good and all but stopped working. They literally had to pull out the stoma more and stitch it again and he left the rod in for longer than normal just so it doesn't sink down again.

The rectal cuff was left at 5 cm and it's supposed to be at 2 cm. That's what caused all the issues according to Dr. Remzi. Jpouch itself was viable so hopefully I don't lose anymore of my small intestine.

Surgery went well and he said he found the problem and fixed it. He also took my stoma down and made a new one. I hope I'll be happily jpouching soon!

Did he tell you the problem that he found? I hope that feel some relief that he found and fixed it.

I am so glad you found doctors who were able to finally say what the problem was! Hope that you heal quickly and the time goes by fast until you can get the final surgery.
