Never thought I'd be writing about this issue!

Last bm was Tues. Since then I'm having difficulty passing anything but a tiny hard rock. Nothing today so far despite the urge to go. Aside from water, salads and fiber in my keto bread I've been reluctant to try more traditional things because I have to work early mornings. I'm off for the weekend so my goal is to poop. My abdomen is fine, not crampy nor distended, I only feel very uncomfortable in the rectum. I can't sit down after trying to go because it's so painful. I then have a sitz bath.

I'm drinking coffee as I used to swap that as my colonoscopy prep but so far....nothing.

It feels like my rectum is impacted.

What should I try first? Drug store enema? I don't want to swing the other way but it feels like rocks down there.

I would definitely take a stool softener immediately and then another in the evening. Then miralax although that doesn’t work right away. I’ve always had constipation issues but now take Metamucil nightly and only rarely have to resort to stool softeners or miralax. Sometimes magnesium works for me too although too much will make me crampy.

If you’re uncomfortable I would consider drugstore prep or laxative. But be careful. Milk of magnesia is fairly gentle?

Thank you @Flowers. I actually don't think I can drive to the drug store I'm so uncomfortable. I'm walking like I have something stuck up there because I do! It seriously feels impacted. I'll try to get something though. I've never, ever experienced anything like this and can't figure out why it's happened.

I’ve had constipation issues for several months. When it’s backed up as long as yours has been, you don’t need to wait any longer to pass it.

Three Ducalax should do the trick. They might make you cramp some before you go, but go you will (should).

I take Miralax to keep me regular a lot of the time (doc told me yesterday that it’s ok to take more than one dose of Miralax per day if it comes to that).

Anyway…3 ducalax (read the directions) should do the trick.

I would stay away from enemas, our colons are 90% water, an enema will dry you out. Miralax can take several days to work, it is not instant. I would get ducolax & glycerin suppositories as a back up. Another good thing is warm prune juice, about a half of a cup, hold your nose & drink it down. Do not let this go any longer.

I’m screaming on the toilet & sweating so much. I got a dulcolax suppository & it’s been in for 20 min. It’s burning so bad & nothing coming out. I can’t sit down because of this rock of poop & im afraid that I’m going to tear!!! I’m in a complete panic. Had to strip down but can’t get dressed.

Is it possible you would have a stricture or possibly an abscess? I do suggest you either go to emergency or at the very least contact your GI.
Was this something that seemed to come gradually or all of a sudden?

OMG- that was 5 hours of hell. I'm sure my neighbors heard me screaming. As soon as it passed I was better. I was sweating, shivering, lying on the bathroom floor with blankets and a heating pad. Fun times. That suppository burned and took 5 hrs to work. And I was so thirsty. Very traumatic - it reminded me of when I had a massive abscess /setons and had to poop. I see GI on Monday. No idea how this happened and really can't see it being a stricture as I've had no symptoms. My surgeon checked in late Oct and saw to inflammation- everything looked healthy. I'm normal - well bowel is anyway! I really don't want to go through that again but obviously don't want D either. I go 0-2 times a day so I wasn't worried when I didn't poop on Tues - then Wed I could feel the pain and hardness in my rectum. No where else. I really hate IBD.

Sounds horrific...yikes! Seems you're safe regarding neighbours since the police didn't arrive at your house👍
You could increase vitamin C ... through fruit or supplements, or take something like Mirilax, etc.
Good you're seeing your GI on Monday...please keep us updated.
Hope this was a one-time event.

When this happens to me I eat oatmeal for breakfast for about a week, drink lots of grape juice and finally... I take 2 tablespoons of Milk if Magnesia nightly for about a week. MOM works in about 6 hours for me.

Please let us know how it goes with your GI.
