Breast Cancer

Hi everyone,
I have had Ulcerative colitis for the past 20 years. For the past 13 years it’s been wonderfully managed by Remicade and now inflector. I was just diagnosed with breast cancer a couple months ago. Just wondering if anyone else on here has been diagnosed with breast cancer? Wondering if there’s any connection between the ulcerative colitis and or medication? Please share your experiences with me.

I’m not sure about UC but I know if two celebrities both with Crohns and both have breast cancer after diagnosis

Sorry to hear that you are going thru this. It's always difficult when we find that we have additional health issues along with our IBD. I frequently find myself considering the propensity of IBD or my medications causing it.

Did they give you any idea of a plan? Did they tell you to halt your Remicade treatments?

There are studies out there that have indicated an increase in breast cancer after or while using Remicade. I just googled breast cancer and Remicade and they popped. (Sorry but my phone won't let me attach)

I have been on Remicade and methotrexate for the last 7 years. Cancer runs in my family so I understand your concerns.
