Hi!

I have UC and experiencing unusual rectal pressure, especially at night. I have just started getting UC symptoms once again, the usual blood and mucus. But the pressure is new. What is going on?!

Tenesmus is one of the worst symptoms IMO. It would just wear me out because it was so constant.

Your dr can prescribe an antispasmodic— dicyclomine (sp?) helps some. I think a steroid foam helps quite a bit too. But really just getting out of a flare is the only thing that stops it.

What meds are you on & have you contacted your dr? Ditto to what FlowersGal posted too. The antispasmodic will help with the tenemus. Take care.

Okay, I did consider tenesmus. I just don’t have the feeling of emptying bowels though so I wasn’t sure if it was same thing.

I’m on mesalamine. But I flared and I was able to get back into remission with SCD but I still continued with mesalamine but don’t think it’s been helping for a while now. I got pregnant and now I’m experiencing my postpartum flare sad

Mesalamine what specifically and dosage?
I wouldnt call the mesalamine a failure yet.

I’m on the brand Mezavant, orally on the highest dose. 4 something grams, I believe.

I would ask for rectal meds, that’s what usually clears up that feeling for me.

+1 for rectal meds. Mesalamine enemas could help a lot.
