Skin tags???

A week ago I went for my yearly dermatology exam. Everything looked pretty good. I still have eczema/psoriasis but it's under control. Then he jynxed me. He stated he was surprised that I hadn't developed any skin tags because of my UC/Crohn's.

Today got in the shower and they are all over my armpit. Aaaagg!!!! How do I get rid of these things? Can I do it at home? I am seriously looking at the clippers and thinking about going after them. Gross! These things are freaking me out.

I used to have a few, had them all burnt off by a skin therapist (not a dermatologist and not sure they have such a qualification in the US? ). I thought it was a hormonal thing. Had them for years before i developed UC. It was so easy to get rid of them (literally seconds) that i regretted not doing it sooner.

I think I’ve just had the one. Just below my belt line. I’d look down at that thing and think to myself, “That looks like something that’d be on an old person’s body.” Then, it went away on it’s own. It was there for along time. Years.

Not sure what IBD has to do with skin tags. People get them all the time. I've had a dermatologist remove 2 -- he used something that froze them and they fell off a few days later. I used clippers on one and don't think I will do that again. It hurt a lot, bled a lot and then I worried that it would get infected until it healed.

Could you try soaking a cotton pad in apple cider vinegar first and holding it in place for 15min and see if it helps you? Or dabbing at them with tea tree oil. That would burn them off and they would fall off and the skin would even again.

Thanks all for your responses.

I made an appointment with the dermatologist. (Yes . It does hurt and bleed alot when you snip them off with clippers . Lol)

His PA said people with IBD have more issues with skin tags than patients that do not have IBD. Hmmmm. Will have to see what Dr. Google says....
