Mouth thrush @ vaginal yeast infection

Since starting Remicade I’ve been having I believe both symptoms. Which doctor do I see? The GI is to far away. Gynecologist? Dentist? Primary? Or can the GI just prescribe an oral med?
Roof of the mouth is where I first noticed it.

Take a photo of your tongue and send it to your GI. I did that with my GI when I was on antibiotics. He prescribed Fluconolzole for me to treat it.

I would go with my primary dr because of convenience. Keith mentioned sending a pic to your gi, that's an option, but how long does it take to get a response on the patient portal?

I get a response sometimes right away. The sore is on the roof of my mouth. How Do you take a picture of that.

Thought maybe I burned the roof of my mouth or the acid from pineapple. It’s not going away. I know it’s not from anything too hot. Been using hydro peroxide rinse for my mouth and it’s really not doing anything. Maybe I’ll mention it to the GI nurse. Maybe they will send something over. Could go to primary but I don’t want an internal from her. If it was just the mouth I wouldn’t be questioning this so much. Two totally different areas!

I hear ya on the internal exam. Try to talk to the gi's nurse, Diflucan or the generic either one will knock out both. I would ask her about the Remicade causing this too.

My Thrush has always been on my tongue. My tongue would have an unnatural white layer on it and I couldn’t get it off without medication.

I suggest you get the area swabbed and tested..it could be an ulcer. I get it at the back of my throat and down my esophagus from my steroid inhalers...even though I rinse, brush and scrape afterward. I use Nystatin swallow.

Faith...a GP would do it and rx appropriate meds if need. Of anything is over and above, then a referral to a specialist would be done.
Because of stomach symptoms over and above reflux issues...my GI did a scope, and it was candida. I was on Breo inhaler...bad bad horrible inhaler for me...and abx for sinus infection kicked it off good. At least I know what it was and antifungal med was rx'd. If I eat too much chocolate...I can feel it in my throat, sigh. 🙄 But the nystatin swallow is helpful.

I had a infectious disease doctor treat my thrush/yeast after my sepsis infection. I appreciated that he treated it aggressively. I needed a hefty course of diflucan in a higher dose to get it under control. I've used boric acid to control yeast vaginally with incredible luck, but it won't help with thrush.

I’ve had thrush before. It was a very long time ago caused by some strong antibiotics. It wasn’t a sore though. I was what Keith described, the white on the tongue.
An anti fungal mouth wash treated it. I don’t remember what it was called.

Nystatin mouth wash will help, but it is a prescription. My older son has a vivacious case of thrush as an infant and it took 4 different rounds of meds to treat it. I got oral thrush on prednisone the last time around and I used the same mouthwash they prescribed my son as a baby some 13 years later. It is much easier to use as an adult, I had to dip it in a cotton swab and rub it all around his mouth since he was so little.

Ok saw the gyno! Yeast infection vaginal with possibly in the mouth also. Blood in the urine more then just trace. So extra diflucan. The blood she said is from the yeast infection. So if I have yeast anywhere else it should take care if it .

Diflucan works really well on yeast infections, you should be feeling better in a few days. They usually start me off with a double dose on the first day.

Keith, she gave me 3 150 mg take 1 every other day.
For 5 days.
Double dose would have been good. 89 cents for the script. They never write with refills. I guess they want your visit.

They used to give them to me for 10 days at a time with a starting dose of two (11 tablets) when I was on antibiotics for long periods of time.

My pcp only gives me the 2 day pack, lol. I never needed a refill but I think I could have got one if needed. I'm glad you were seen & got the meds.

My primary is good with refills. Specialist aren’t so giving. I knew the GI wasn’t going to give something without seeing me. Gyno is near by and you always can get an appointment that day for something like that. Having blood in the urine concerns me. She didn’t seem concerned. Maybe I should bring it up to PCP. Always something. On a good note I’m feeling better. Remicade is working too. I’m happy for a change.
Next neurologist on Monday to address my headaches.
