Tattoo anyone?

Continuing to do amazingly well.

I have a history of PG (legs) but that's been in remission for years.
Crohns is in remission with Stelara and supplements

I'd like to get a small tattoo on my forearm. I've read a couple of articles that say it's risky and could trigger PG, but I had a port installed 3 years ago and that didn't result in any flare up or trauma.

I don't have a derma and my GI couldn't advise me.

Has anyone had issues with a tattoo post UC/CD diagnosis? Anyone with issues while being on immune suppressants ?

The risk seems relatively low to me but I wanted your opinion.

If you have PG, I personally wouldn't. People with UC have oxidative status and injury accelerates the problem. If you suffer from systemic inflammation then a tattoo could exacerbate the problem because it counts as an injury. on the other hand, it depends on how large the tattoo is you want to get, and how much surface area will be tattooed in a single session. I would say a small tattoo is lower risk. Most tattoo establishments require permits to run so I would not worry too much about sterility. The issue is more how your immune system reacts to injury. If you have run-away inflammation that triggers inflammatory cascades that are hard to control, I would advise against tattoos.

Well... I'm officially a bad*** and got my first (and likely only ) tat last Wednesday. I figured if my port didn't cause a PG flare then I should be safe with a tattoo. I've had no issues with my little tribute to my departed canine best friend and it's healed perfectly.

@ipoop - I'm partial to any big block chevy but do have a sweet spot for a vette Not that I'd turn down a camaro though. Frankly, I can't think of a better place to get a tattoo! Thanks for the advice!
