Thanks.
Yeah. No question this new GI is head and shoulders above the last one. He’s in his early 30s I think, which I kind of like, because he seems to be more up on newer drugs and methods. Just some of the things he has said. I really like he says something and then immediately moves on it. He got the 10 mg 6 week interval of Inflectra dose approved in less than a week. The last GI couldn’t get it done, or didn’t even try much. In this office appointment late Tuesday afternoon I told him I was running out of budesonide …I got a text from cvs in about
an hour after leaving his office….saying “you can come pick up your prescript
ion”. And when I picked it up, it was a 90 day supply of 9 mg a day. That takes stress off me. Knowing I’ve got plenty on hand.
If that was the last GI, I probably would have had to call his office after a few days to remind him or whoever there, it needs to get called in.
I was initially on budesonide for 2 weeks before the last infusion. Then I went off it completely for two weeks immediately after the last infusion, to see what 10 mg would do without any add on.
For those two weeks I was averaging 7 times a day. Not good.
Now I’ve been on it about
2 weeks , again, so far, currently. 9 mg each morning of budesonide is working better than low dose prednisone for me. Lately, I typically go once or twice in the night….last night ….2:30 am and 4:30 am. Then 2 times on average each morning…6:30 am and then 9:30 am or so. Then another movement early evening. All brown. No mucus as far as I can tell. Movements vary but typically it’s mushy with some watery. Sometimes I get soft stools, but that’s rare.
I don’t fully understand the reason why he wanted to do the blood test right before 10 mg infusion number 3. And not right before 10 mg infusion number 2. Coming up here soon. I didn’t push him. I asked for the blood test before infusion number 2 and he said he wants do do it right before infusion number 3. He said something like he prefers to get it done then. So, I said ok. At this point, I don’t want to object or push his recommendations. So far, I trust him. He seems to know what he is doing.
My history with this drug. From memory. I went on 5mg induction fall of 2021. and had a great immediate response. Early on I got 5 mg every 8 weeks. Noticed I was great for 2 or 3 weeks, then it would seem to not work great. Last GI had me on prednisone low dose, various doses to try and bring the gap to the next infusion(s). I think I was on prednisone between 5 mg and 20 mg, up and down, over a period of about
6 months. Not good.
Anyway, I’ve got the new GI. He seems on the ball. I’m going to run with him for now without too much questioning.
Thanks to everyone for all your insight. I value it greatly.
