24 hours post op. What a difference that makes. (Warning... This could be the Norco talking lol) I do feel much better. Ive been trying to stay ahead of the pain with the meds and tomorrow will switch over to just Tylenol only.... Although if it gets too bad I'll take Norco.

If any of you all have to have a large kidney stone lasered (is that a word?) And then have to have a stent. Heads up... the stent really is uncomfortable... And if they offer the little brown pills that turn your pee orange.... Take them. They are like a miracle. No brown pills.... plan on singing opera when you pee.... Or doing a face plant.

Norco kicking in... And I'm going out.

Today was better than yesterday.

The little brown pills are over the counter pain reliever pills for urinary tract infections. I didn't know they would help with the stent/urinating after surgery pain.

Today I didn't take any pain pills.... Not even the little brown pills. Those pills turn your urine sorta reddish orange so I could not tell how much blood was still in my urine. They finally wore off, I went pee and almost passed out. I'm still unsure if it was from the pain or seeing so much blood. Regardless I am taking them again tonight with the Norco and zofran.

So I did speak to my urologist. The blood is supposed to get better. He said he will remove the stents this Friday. It is an office visit, no pain meds, and they just pull the stents out. He said it can be a little "uncomfortable". Yikes!!!! (Why don't they just tell you it hurts like holy hell?) I am going to self medicated with Norco and zofran so I don't scream his office down or puke on him. Lol...

I can't help wondering if the blood/healing stuff sorta starts all over again when they remove the stents? I just want to get off these pain meds asap. I'm always alittle scared that I'll start relying on them more and more if I allow myself to. But I did ask for a refill of the Norco pills for the rest of the week. He gives them out 15 at a time. I guess that makes you use them wisely. Lol..

Thanks, Flowers. Will keep that in mind if I ever get another UTI. I don't remember ever getting them before.

Clo -- I had to get an IUD removed that had gotten embedded in my uteris and the doc said the same thing ... that it was going to be "uncomfortable". I probably screamed as much as a woman giving birth due to the "discomfort". You got their number and already planning ahead. They can fool you with "uncomforable" ... you know exactly what that means. Hope this week you keep feeling a little better every day.

Today was interesting. I tried to get the Norco refilled. Nope. They refused. Instead they sent scripts for Ketorolac for pain and Oxybutynin for the stents/kidney spasms. I was a little miffed. I've not had either one of them before. ...But we went up and collected the meds, I took them and now I feel better. Alittle more clear headed. I am not singing opera when I pee... So the oxybutynin seems like a game changer. I am with holding judgement on the pain pills right now.

His assistant called to check on me this evening. She said that the stent removal was gonna hurt like crazy for about 90 seconds and then it would take another few hours to calm down more. So I've saved a few Norco just for that. I wanted to call them back and beg them to just knock me out for this next part too, but I hate sounding like a baby.

The urologist has impressed me...he did my surgery on a Friday... And he never does surgery on Fridays... Plus he's doing the removal on a Friday too .... And they said he doesn't do those on Fridays either.... So he's really been very accommodating.

Just Thankful that it's getting better day by day...

Oh .. and in wearing the pad... Yepper. You definitely want to do that. I've ruined 4 pairs of underwear even though I wiped really well. Bright orange streak that does not come out with any pretreatment so far 😩. Oh well.....

Clo - I am glad you've had the surgery and are recovering. I hope you don't mind though when I say that I hope I never, ever, ever get a kidney stone. Some of your descriptions made me wince so much, holy batman.

Don't feel ashamed for getting knocked out for 90 seconds of severe pain either. It's better than being traumatised.

I understand the fear of getting addicted to your pain meds. This oxycodone is powerful stuff - I was almost flying last night. I'm not taking the maximum amount that I could, as in theory I can have a 5mg oxy top up once every 2 hours but in reality I'm having nothing like that much.

Like others on here, I try and stockpile pain meds when I can. Ditto sleeping pills.

My mum just phoned, so I've lost the thread of this post <_<.
