What are the risks of cancer with UC?

If you're meaning colon cancer statistics, I don't know. However, they are not subjective.

Consistent inflammation can cause cells to change toward cancer, however, there are some with a genetic or inherited tendency of getting colon cancer...but thankfully, we do get checked regularly.

I was thinking my risks were very high. I've had IBD since I was 25 and now I'm 46. I'm due for a colonoscopy on the 26th of this month and I'm worried about the results. Only because I have severe left sided colitis. Thanks for your comment smile

The short version is that the longer you leave (colon) inflammation untreated and the wider the area of inflammation, the greater the chances of developing (colon) cancer.

The best you can do to protect yourself is get regular screenings (i.e. colonoscopy), keep your bowel inflammation under control, and try to follow a healthy lifestyle (diet, exercise, etc). But you can be the healthiest person on the planet and still get cancer.

Yeah, I do a healthy diet mostly. However, no matter what I eat I still get issues. Just worried about this scan, and can't wait till it's over. I had a really bad flare up in 2019 and ever since that I've been worried about my scans. My bowel has always felt more fragile after that, never has been the same. Thanks both x
