Report

Hello all,
I finally was able to get the report from my last colonoscopy:

FINAL DIAGNOSIS:
A. ASCENDING COLON BIOPSY
Patchy chronic colitis, moderate activity.
B. TRANSVERSE COLON BIOPSY
Patchy chronic colitis, histologically mild activity.
C. DESCENDING COLON BIOPSY
Patchy chronic colitis, histologically mild activity.
D. SIGMOID COLON BIOPSY
Patchy chronic colitis, histologically mild activity.
E. RECTAL BIOPSY
Chronic proctitis, moderate activity with mucosal ulceration granulomas. See comment.
Comment: These histological features are consistent with idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease. Because of the focality of the inflammation and the rectal granulomas present, I favor a diagnosis of Crohn's disease. All biopsies are negative for dysplasia.

So my GI said UC is what she visually saw. But then her nurse started saying this. So, I'm a bit confused. Maybe it's because the treatment is pretty much the same. All I know is the Stelara or generic Lialda did help with the stool because it went from the 300's to 39. But the joint pain is so much worse. I'm going to see another Rheumy as soon as I can get in.

Thanks for responding. The GI hasn't really called it anything except for IBD. The nurse said crohns. The Dr just said it was caught early. I guess because it took such a long time for the symptoms to show up via a colonoscopy (I've had about 6+ since I was 27 & I'm now 53). Not one biopsy every showed IBD, except in 2019 they said that it might be diagnosed at that if they had more clinical details, so the doctor said it was left sided. But I only took the meds for 3 months. Then the pandemic hit and I didn't go to see the GI until late last year after my appendix had to come out. I had a lot of the other issues (uveitis, joint pain, very low ferritin). Is lower normal wbc a symptom?

I'll get a pic of the report, but it was above the line. I had one Dr tell me that the hashimoto and vitamin deficiency can cause it to be lower.
