Abdominal Migraine

I've had a recurring pain I call a heart spike. It is intense stabbing pain in my chest. It hurts so much I am surprised there is nothing visible. ER takes this seriously, so I've had every test there is, even while it's going on and there is absolutely nothing to see. A temp PA suggested it could be migraine which sounded ridiculous. I have migraines. I know migraines.

But I started to track. My migraines are classic. The most typical migraines there are. I've had them since third grade.

Sometimes I get the aura, but no migraine.
I figured that my migraine ritual (shower, Tylenol, Benadryl, dark, sleep) worked.

The aura precedes the heart spike.

And sometimes the aura precedes a bellybutton spike.

Whenever I have a very intense abdominal pain it's in the middle. They always ask me where it hurts and it's in the middle. There is no part of the colon in the middle. The doctor just says that it is hard to tell where the pain is coming from.

So, I told my gastroenterologist my new idea and she was blown away. Literally! She said all of this time the pieces have not fit together and the drugs I am on should be working better than they are. I should not have such intense pain considering everything else.

She said the reason these pieces to the puzzle don't fit is because they came out of a completely different box.

So, anyway just throwing that out there. I think a lot of the drugs we have changed that we felt weren't working is because we were trying to treat migraines with IBD drugs. Not saying I don't have pancolitis. They can see that with all these stupid colonoscopies I have to take. But, now we have a very likely diagnosis for the stabbing pain just below my belly button.

It also explains the seizures and fainting. Which I keep saying are caused by pain. Migraine can cause you to have seizures and faint. Especially if they're only treating migraine with Tylenol and Benadryl.

And it explains all of my throwing up and being sent home from school. They blamed it on stress because it started around the time our house burn down and I had a really mean teacher. But considering the whole migraines thing... abdominal migraine is way more common for kids.

All new to me, too.
They've tested everything for the fainting/seizures and nothing shows up. But I've done it in front of them, so they know I'm not imagining it.
I have an appointment to talk about migraine.

I'm glad to hear that is working for you.
I'm glad I've never had migraines as frequently as that!

I will know more soon.
Another colonoscopy next week just to make sure things a more settled there and it is not where the pain is from.

Anyway, I have learned a lot from reading other people's experiences on here. I've never even heard of migraine intestinal pain, but when I googled it, it is not uncommon, especially in children.

The cardio migraine is also in a lot of white papers as something to rule out. They think it is way more common than reported.

The commonality is pain preceded by aura.

My liver was failing, I was bleeding a lot and my weight was really low, that's why I could not take a lot of things. But since the Entyvio is working, we're going to try to address other things.

"Chest pain can be a complication of migraine. The treatment should be focused on migraine control. Migraine should be included in the differential diagnosis of chest pain."

Most articles are behind a pay wall, but this is what they were talking about.
