Trying to stay calm and stay positive.

Two nights ago, I started having diarrhea but no serious urgency, no increased frequency, no blood (I don’t usually have much blood). Very different presentation from previous flares but this would be my first flare on Xeljanz. I’ve also had a headache for a few days which is not a typical flare symptom either.

I was at a wedding over the weekend and multiple people have Covid now. I took two at home Covid tests which were negative, but I’m still hopeful that I just have a virus or something.

I also ate a lot of cherries two days ago, which apparently has a lot of sorbitol. So hoping that it was just the cherries and I just need to wait this out.

I don’t even feel that bad except for the concern that I might be flaring.

I guess I have to just wait and see, but I’m not sure how long I have to wait. I guess a few more days. Today is only day two of GI symptoms.

Hopefully it's just a glitch, been seeing a few have this happen for a couple of days. about the virus, it sounds like you tested yourself too soon.

Monitor what is going on but try not to panic (easier said than done).

I would keep testing for covid. Or go get a pcr test. In December I tested negative in a clinic with a rapid test, had a pcr test the next morning and that was positive.

That said I think there’s also a stomach virus going around so hopefully that’s what you have!

Mpal...Could very well be if you weren't having some suspicions previous to the wedding. Food, drink and maybe an invader can cause those symptoms.
You could add a fibre supplement and definitely probiotics (if you're not on them already)
Consistency and frequency will tell more. If it does continue, however, ask your doc for a stool sample kit.

Get checked for Cdiff, it's a simple test you can do at home. I had it once and it was a bit different from a normal flare. If Cdiff gets out of hand, it can be quite serious.

The wedding was fun Quincy smile

Pretty sure it is/was a mild case of covid (again) even though the rapid tests were never positive (they’re also pretty old and mat be expired).

At least the GI symptoms didn’t last too long. I’ve been in a pretty okay remission for about a year, maybe less, so any GI symptoms make me think the worst.

In January I had an episode of diarrhea, I guessed it probably wasn't a flare because I was having chills at the same time and just wanted to lie down all day. I contacted my ibd doctor and he said it sounds like a virus and I should recover in 7 days. I tested negative for covid (think I tested myself 6 times), but indeed exactly 7 days after I first got sick I was back to normal again.
