Hi Everyone,
I haven't had a flare up in years, and haven't posted much over the past decade but it's so nice to know this community is still here and offering great support.
about a week ago I started having mild flare symptoms, and my gastroenterologist wants to start me on oral mesalamine (I'm assuming Asacol or whatever name brand it goes by at this time). My hesitation is that in the past I've tried Canasa suppositories (also mesalamine-based) and it made my symptoms almost immediately and severely worse. I even tried using the suppositories again a few years later, and the same thing happened.
My question to the group is, does this mean I probably will not do well on the oral mesalamine either? Is it possible it was just the fact that the suppository is topical rather than swallowed that caused the reaction? I'm curious to hear people's thoughts/experiences.
Thanks everyone,
Laura
