I had a total colectomy with ileostomy in 2010. This was due to colonic inertia and anismus. I have had issues the past year with rectal problems, pain, smelly leakage, and lower abdominal pain.
I use warm water enemas to get to get rid of the mucous once a week and sometimes only the water comes out. Not sure if the mucous is remaining in the rectum.
The doctor has me take flagyl and steroid suppositories for flare ups. That worked for several months but now, not so much.
I do not want another surgery, but the pain is just getting to be too much.
Is there any recommendations of any medications or enemas I can be prescribed to help with this situation? I am beyond depressed and just miserable from this.
