Ketones in urine?

Hi all, has anyone has had experience with ketones in their urine? I just got a lab report back and it shows that result. I’m not diabetic, which is apparently the usual source of that result. I do have a problem with too much weight loss after 2 years of diarrhea and flaring (over 30% of body weight lost since 2021). I’m guessing that’s it (from googling), but won’t get to talk to the doc till Feb, so just wondering if it’s something others have seen?

Midge, I went to the Cleveland Clinic's website & read about ketones in urine. Ketones in blood or urine indicates that your body is burning fats instead of glucose for energy. Having ketones means body is using it's backup energy source-fats. It's normal & safe to have some ketones in blood or urine. You can go to their website to read more.

How high is the number?
Are you eating carbs at all?

Every time I flare this happens. Totally normal from the weight loss. I tend to lose my period, too.

Thanks all. I haven’t got a number, it just says failed. Probably just a small amount. Yes I’m eating tons of carbs, I’m a bread and pasta lover. I’m guessing it’s the same situation at bacon girl noted, just due to weight loss generally. Thanks for the input, I’ll let you know if it’s anything else when I find out.
