Hi guys, I've been diagnosed with an Giardia infection (stool test and blood draw). I've been prescribed Metronidazole for 10 days.
The symptoms I have are explosive diarrhoea and foul smelling dark stools.
Has anyone had Giardia infection before and have they experience dark cherry coloured diarrhoea?
I'm on day 7 now and slightly concerned that the colour hasn't changed by now?
Otherwise I'm feeling good
Any feedback would be appreciated 👍

UC/CD for 15years
Meds: stelara, methotrexate, pentasa

At the the end of your abx course, they should test you again for the same infection. If it comes negative, and you feel good, and the doctors can explain the colour not changing, then I would feel fine about it.

PS beware of false negatives. Testing a few times may be a good idea.
