Should I have my Entyvio infusion?

I have been flaring worse than ever for the past few weeks. Today's no better...down to liquid D now. I have an infusion in a couple hrs. Does anyone know if they will not do it? I have started taking Calcium and Vitamin D a few weeks ago also. Could this cause Diarrhea? I have been eating gluten free bread thinking I may be intolerant. But have read there are ingredients in gluten-free that can cause harm too.

My infusions have moved to once a month...cause I thought they only helped about 75%. Today is the 1st 4 week infusion. But I'm not great now...so here goes nothing..

Thanks GH for responding. I did have the infusion and they said hope it helps. Today..I passed yellowish mucus semiformed again, a couple times. We're you flaring when you started Entyvio? And gradually went into remission? I'm just curious as to how long it could take to work.

I am waiting the results of a calprotectin test now. But have not been tested for C-diff. The Dr's probably think it's just a UC flare. But I could ask for a test. 2onder how long it would stay in your system.

Sassy, I'm on remicade, not Entyvio, but it was the switch to 4 weeks infusions that really helped me turn the corner. I started the 4 week schedule in Dec and started noticing significant improvement in Feb, and it’s only gotten better from there. I hope the more frequent infusions will help you as well. I agree though with GrittyHope that you should ask for a CDiff test. I had recurrent CDiff for several months before and while I was on Entyvio and full on diarrhea is definitely a symptom (as it can be for a colitis flare of course). Still, it’s a very quick test and very with doing if there's any doubt. If it’s there it won’t go away on its own. Good luck I hope the 4 week schedule brings you some relief!

I was flaring when I started Entyvio in April 2022. I was on Budesonide and tapered off that after my loading doses. Since then I've had no flare symptoms, CRP has been low, calprotectin good again, etc. I sometimes get low gut rumbles or stomach aches, and I have lots of non-bowel symptoms that may be related to the UC, but my gut has been good.

I'd never needed drugs before even with ten years of this disease (mild proctitis), and I suspect my situation was exacerbated by a massive load of antibiotics and antifungals for appendicitis that mid-January, followed by acute stress for weeks, followed by a try with salofalk in Feb or March that dramatically exacerbated my symptoms. In other words, I feel like there were a lot of factors that led to a pretty dramatic flare, and the Budesdonide was helping immensely even before the Entyvio.

I'm really hoping your closer dosage schedule offers help, and I also hope your doctor can give good advice for next steps.
