Tapering off Prednisone

I have been on 20mg all year long. My bleeding stopped about 3 months so now at My last Dr visit I was told to taper by 5 mgs every two weeks. Well needless to say my stools are getting a lot looser. I am scared to flare again, but my Dr really stressed that I need to get off this drug or very bad long term effects will occur.  Any kind of suggestions would be appreciated. Maybe there are always changes in bowel habits when tapering since this is such a powerful drug.
