LOL...thanks for asking...I didn't have the energy to post it last night. Yes, I had my scope...here are the sordid details.....
The clean-out went fine. I used GoLytely. I originally got CoLyte from my pharmacy but noticed it was labeled "flavoured" and took it back. not wanting to drink a gallon of a flavour, I'd be nauseated for sure. The pharmacist checked as to what was available and said they were all flavoured.
OK. then I was totally ticked.
I called the Clinic pharmacy where my GI's office is..and they had the GoLytely that wasn't flavoured..whew!
I use a straw to drink each glassful quickly..works very effectively. Couldn't do the last half a glass and threw it out defiantly..haha !
I felt fine after all the prep, was there Tuesday 9:00 AM .. prepped and in the procedure room by 10:00.
The nurse administered Fentanyl and Versed into the IV (he told her 25/100 from what I heard..don't know which is for which...I do remember having some discomfort during the procedure..going around the bends and the air/gas..and remember watching the monitor and him taking the biopsies.
I did see some mucus (as he said was normal from the prep). I don't remember how many biopsies, but the nurses said 5. I remember more being taken, but I'll find out when I have the follow-up October 15. He said all looks great except 5cm inflammation in the rectum. Could be from the prep..but I'll do the Salofalk nightly for a week and then taper from there again.
I had a nice dozing recovery and then a long sit on the toilet expelling blood and gas. I was out of there and picked-up by 11:15.
My husband and I went for breakfast then went home so that I could expel more (wouldn't dare fart) and didn't have the energy to go out afterward. I fell asleep in my chair by 4:00 and woke-up at 7:30. I made a toasted tomato sandwich , peanut butter/honey on toast and had a nectarine for desert.
I was still expelling some gas/blood...and had slight discomfort throughout probably from the gas and biopsies during the evening.
I was feeling a bit agitated and ticked that I don't remember a lot about watching the monitor. I think it's that the meds make it all seem to go very fast when looking back. I don't know if I actually dozed a bit or did watch the monitor but don't remember everything. I did ask a few questions and remember the doc "highlighting" out a few things for me to look at and my commenting. Given the fact it's been a really stressful week after falling on the stairs (went to the hospital but didn't break anything thankfully) and with discomfort of my shoulder..especially while getting ready to go out...I think I just took advantage of the meds and relaxed a bit too much. sigh.
I'm going to tell him I don't want the versed next time.......but will talk about it to him at the follow-up.
So, it all went well regardless. I'm happy it's done...but now slightly anxious a bit regarding the results. For the last few c-scope results, I've had very very slight inflammation throughout (which could be from the prep)...but just that fact has me hoping all will be fine and not increased (on a microscopic level). Since I do have PSC (or PBC), the incidence for cancer is a bit higher.
I feel better today, had a fairly normal bm, no blood or discomfort.
I think my attitude will improve as the day continues..lol!
All done for another 3 years unless there's precancer or cancer in the biopsies. Will definitely post the results then.
