When I was on oral steroids, I developed a lovely bit of "fluff" at the side of my cheeks and cheekbones...hopefully not that noticeable. Is this now going to be permanent?? Will it fall out eventually?
Help!
Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, I am male but thought I would input my experience anyway!

I have been on and off oral pred for years - and it caused extra hair growth on me too - including on my cheeks, which I hated.

I have found it doesn't usually just fall out when you discontinue the steroids. Yes, it stops growing but it doesnt disappear. I had to pluck it out and and it didnt come back!

Hey! This happened to me. As soon as I went off pred. I stopped noticing it. Oooooh and I got dark hair above my upper lip. Awful! My dermatologist gave me a prescription cream for face hair (Vanquish maybe). I never used it b/c I went off pred. pretty soon after that.

Yeah, I've been on steroids for almost 6 months now and I have LOTS of fuzz on my cheeks and on the back of my neck as well...I have short hair so I really notice it growing big time on the back of my neck (Actually, some of that being black hair)...Thank goodness its blond on my face and not black hair...I really notice it well when I'm on florescent light...SO, did I read correctly? It doesn't go away when the steroids are stopped? I've been tempted to shave it but being a female, not sure if that would be wise...It may turn into a full beard!!!!

Thanks guys! I've been off the steroids since mid August, its not showing any signs of falling out and I've been tempted to remove it one way or another myself! Might give it a try with some hair removing cream! I can feel it when I rub in moisturiser...yeuch! I really notice it in certain lights too...maybe a career in the circus is required!

I had the same problem when on high doses of steroids. I have dark hair, so the "sideburns and mustache" growth were pretty obvious on me. Sally Hansen makes a wax kit especially for facial hair. That's what I used to remove mine. After I got off the high dose, I didn't have any more problems with it. You may also want to consider going to a salon and having the pros do the waxing.

Same thing happened to me on Pred. When I went off the 'roids the hair disappeared. I'd recommend just waxing it off. I doubt it will come back if you're off the Pred now.

It happened to me too. I just bleached the dark hair and waited for it to go away. When I stopped the Prednisone, it went away. I can't remember how long it took because it just seemed that one day I stopped noticing it.

Losing hair off our heads where we want it and growing new facial hair where we don't... ironic, eh?

And I felt the same way about the weight gain and fatty deposits around the face and trunk while my poor emaciated arms and legs withered away while on high doses of pred.

I do laser hair removal and it works really good. The stubborn ones on my chinny chin chin, those have taken a lot of zaps!
