just joined,with my new j pouch

 Hi Everyone

   I ,m new here and hope it is ok to come on .I did have UC but now have a j pouch,my UC was very agressive,it lasted only 23 days then I got toxic mega colon,so the choice was very easy for me to make.I Have read many post on the site here and can see how terrible this disease is.

       The j pouch is a wonderfull thing for me,it is different from what i was like before,but i,m alive and living life to the max.I see many things are similar with a jpouch when I look at the issues people have here,things like diet and medications I use are very close to each other,I also see probiotics are important to,as they are with pouchers.

   I hope it,s ok for me to post here,if anyone has any questions about a pouch or what the surgery was like feel free to email me I would be more happy to answer any questions

Where did both of you get it done, and how long war your recovery(both)??

I was done at Mount Sini hospital In Toronto Canada,since I suffered from toxic mega colon my recovery was about 3 to 4 months at home,I needed time to put some beef on as I lost a massive amont of weight in a very short time span,it was at least a year of adjusting,but not difficult at all,I had all the normal issues to deal with,right now I take codine 3 times aday to slow my gut down,and it,s working fine,I was never on any hard drugs like prednizone,I am very lucky for that.right now I may go to the washroom about 6 times in the day and 1 or 2 times at night,that all depends on if I eat late to.

Thanks, the reason I ask is not that I'm having any poblems, but just checking things out just in case. I drive a truck over the road and was just wondering if I ever got this would I have to wait a longer period of time before I went back to work. My truck bounces a lot and was just wondering.
