help sharp stabbing pains, unbearable

last 2 days i have had sharp stabbing pains in stomach can't sleep at night, have to lay on my back to take some pressure off it hurts when i move to left side or right side, taking lots of pain killers no joy :( the pains are just below belly button which move left to right at times like a kife is stabbing me all the time, i do suffer from colitis please does anyone else suffer from this pain? i have had uc for 10 years no and am 23, only had this pain 3 times in last year went to hospital and they could not find anything :(

i have. i've been on endone (oxycontins) since march for the pain. its horrible. at night in bed i dare not move at all. always on my back. if i turn to either side it just hurts so bad (and i have to go straight to the can). the pain is in the same spot as you just under the belly button, as well as my lower left side.
i went to hospital as well (for a week), but i am in middle of a severe left sided flare. Which only a month to a year ago was severe colitis in my entire colon. so it has half healed, but the pain is still there.

from march to about a month ago, the pain was there all day long and constant. hence the pain killers. i was in bed for like 3 months.
not as many times during the day, but at least 3-4 times it is excrutiating and i have to stop what im doing.
at the moment im thinking it is poo or gas in there and my colon is not liking ANYTHING touching it, even air. i can feel the pain move.

but since i have had this pain for so long, maybe its different than yours. are you in a flare right now?

I get those same stabbing pains.  I was told they were spasms.  I was given donnatol elixir at some point, it does help with them.  The cramping or spasms often break through the pain meds.  When that happens I use the liquid.  It's pretty nasty to taste.  But effective so far.  You have to be careful, as it is belladonna/phenabarbitol.  But effective nonetheless, at least for me. I can rarely sleep on my left side.  I'm bedridden much of the time due to pain.  I also have a history of polyps.  My body will spasm to try to get rid of them.  Not that this is necessarily your problem as well, but did they ever find polyps in colonoscopy?  Often that's my indicator that I've got another polyp.  They don't believe me sometimes that I can feel them, but I can & haven't been wrong yet.

I had those pains too a few years back. I'm not sure but for me it started after eating some McDonalds that either was bad or it didn't agree with me. The pain was intense, lasted about 5 minutes and subsided plus it was sporadic. Hak, are you male or female? Do these pains only happen at night and not during the day? Only when you lie down or when your standing?

With all due respect, it sounds like you are in agony...I would call my GI immediately.  That type of pain indicates a problem that must be evaluated.  If you can't reach your doc, please go to an emergency room.

they removed a polyp in my last colonoscopy in october.. just before i was admitted to hospital.

most of my pain is at night. and i have the same problem with turning over onto my left side. everytime i do, it hurts and i have to go to the can.

I have been to hospital 3 times with this pain, and 3 times they released me same day without finding anything, it's been 5 days since i have had the pain now, and it has mostly gone just feels like i have a stitch if that makes sense? bit sore, someone mentioned something about mcdonalds food, i doubt that triggerd this off but that kinda of food does not do my uc any good! i can't afford to take time off work, and have to work in agony, and put a brave face, i have explained to work what i have but they don't seem to care:( currently the pain is to the right side, and a new thing that has has happend to me i feel like i have indigestion??

they happen standing up down, day or night, mainly hurts when i walk fast or bend down to pick something up for example

When I had my first flare, I had some AWFUL pains. Any movements that caused me to use abdominal muscles were super painful! Many times I would find myself hunched over in a chair or on the couch in an almost fetal-like position.

Have you tried a heating pad? That's about the only thing that helps me at those times - and not moving!

I'm sorry you're having such pain. I hope you feel better soon.
