My DD is 3.5 so we haven't really talked about it, but she does know that mommy has a sick bum. I notice at this age that she mimics me a lot so when I'm in a flare, she'll say she has blood too or is in a flare - which of course she doesn't. Also, I get pretty stiff when sitting for any lenghth of time so I it takes me a while to start moving. I'll watch her and there are times that she pretends to be like me and complains that her legs hurt her or that they are swollen, which they do not.
It's really sad and I don't want her thinking that just b/c I'm sick and have to take meds, that she'll get sick too or that how I feel is supposed to be how she is supposed to feel. Did that make sense?
She said to me the other day, "Mom, when I get older I can take medicine like you, but for now I can only have my vitamin." It so broke my heart. I explain everytime that she doesn't want to take meds like me and that hopefully, she'll be healhtly and strong for the rest of her life.
There isn't too much that I haven't been able to do with her so she really hasn't noticed it in that regard. The few times where Daddy had to take her, she was very understanding and would always "nurse" me. She is such a sweet and compassionate little girl. It's amazing to see that kind of personality from someone so little and young.
