Please, most insurance plans do cover the costs of blood plus administration costs.
Are you concerned about your daughter receiving blood from stranger donors, or about costs? Usually banks will let your family and friends donate units after the blood is given to replace donor blood. Check with your local blood bank on that.
If you're concerned about her receiving donor blood (and that's much safer now), it's a bit more of a problem. First, your family would have to be screened to find out who is compatible with her. If it isn't a dire emergency, you may be able to donate and have the blood processed and given to her right away. I believe the maximum storage is 42 days, so it's hard to "bank" ahead when you don't know when (or if) it will be needed.
Finally, I don't want to intrude, but I've noticed your concern about what might happen in the future seems to be growing. Remember that most of us with UC live normal lives, with occasional flares which we deal with successfully for the most part. I totally understand your concern and your desire to find something -- anything -- that you can do to help your daughter. It may be at this time that what she needs most is your calm, your love, a sympathetic ear and reassurance.
Hugs to you, and I hope your daughter is able to quickly find a good remission.
