Many Thanks - Update

I wanted to thank those of you who responded to my question recently of what other steps I could talk about with my doctor before moving on to heavier drugs. Just to recap, I have been on Asacol and Rowasa for 11 years and have been in a flare since April that I can't get on top of. My GI recommended that I move on to Imuran or Remicade but sent me home to think about it. If I had any further questions, I was to make another appointment to talk to him. I came to you with my questions and so many of you mentioned that I might try Colazal and possibly Cort enemas or Cort foam. Well it took me a month to get back in to see him but I brought these very questions to him and he has agreed that I should try them. He cautioned me that he doesn't think they will help me that this is seen by him as a "lateral move" not a step up to meds that will help. But he did admit that he has been wrong before. We are giving this 1 month and then when I go back the end of Jan. we will see if I have improved.

I know he wasn't very encouraging but I feel that if I try this and it doesn't work, then I will have peace of mind that it is time to move forward with other meds. I wouldn't have even known what to ask if it weren't for those of you who care and take time to answer these questions. I feel such a deep sense of gratitude for all of you and this forum. I'm glad your doctor was willing to hear you out and try things your way. That's encouraging. So hopefully you will see a result with this new med regimine, but like you said, if it doesn't work then at least you tried every angle before resorting to the heavier duty drugs.
