I was looking on line, and I noticed that Asacol can be orderd in generic from Canada?? Is this true? Why don't they have generic here in the states? Has anyone ever orderd/tried the generic Asacol, and if you did, did it work just as well? The reason I ask, is my ins is gone now, and Asacol is about $550/mo for me and I can't afford that. I tried Sulfazelens(sp), but had a bad reaction to it. I asked before about Lialda cuz I have an appt with my GI on x-mas eve, and I can get Lialda 1.2gm 60count for about $245/month. I can afford that, but never tried it before. I was on Asacol for yrs and it worked great and thought the generic might be just as good at a price I can afford. I'm in remission now and have been for about 8months and I want to stay here. Thanks

You won't know until you try it...alot of americans order from an online canadian pharmacy, infact alot of americans that live fairly close to the border will even drive on over here and get their RX...I'm quite sure the main ingredients in the generic brands are the exact same as in the name brand, that's something that no one can mess with...I've been on the name brand asacol and was severly allergic to it (in many ways I'm quite thankful for that) but if asacol works for you then definitely stick with it and check out the canadian online pharmacy.

I'm in a similar situation. I order generics from canada for about 150-175 instead of 450 in the states for the "real" stuff. I have noticed no difference. Granted I am still flaring but i didn't notice any difference between generic and asacol.

Well, I have mt appt on x-mas eve with my GI. I am debating on ordering generic Asacol from Canada or having my GI prescribe me Lialda. I can afford the Lialda here, or generic Asacol from Canada. My problem is I don't know how long it takes to get the meds from Canada. Like if I have my DR fax my RX to Canada pharm, how long does it take from that point to have the meds show up at my home? Anyone who goes thru Canada, your input would be great.
