Can a gastic bug trigger a flare?

Me and my daughter and youngest son have been hit by a nasty stomach bug since Thursday.I seem to be having a lot more symptoms than my kids.Constant nausea, vomiting, acute abdominal pain and d. I had to get up twice during the night to RUN to the loo.I'm concerned this nasty bug could be causing another flare-up. Has anyone here experienced a flare after contracting a tummy bug?

   This bug seems to be affecting a lot of people that i know.

Unfortunately yes it can cause a flare. That is what happened to me that made me eventually end up on 6mp. My daughter gave me her stomach bug and of course for her it lasted but a day or two but I ended up sick with it for about 4 days which threw me into a nasty flare. How often are you using your proctofoam?

Yes, I've had the same thing. A bad stomach bug just morphed into a flare. I couldn't tell when the stomach bug ended and the flare began.

I would suggest talking to your doctor as soon as you can to get any advice about getting it under control. The proctifoam sounds like one very good strategy. (I stupidly didn't consider doing that at the beginning of my flu.) Maybe there's something else you can do, like up your dose of Asacol temporarily.

Hi Marty...they spread fast..hand to mouth, so handwashing is really the best way to prevent it. Although, it's impossible to even realise how often we can have our fingers in our mouths or touching our lips.

I would suggest you make sure you and your family take probiotics. Just realise that once the symptoms are gone, the virus can still live in feces for about 2 weeks...

Hope this doesn't set you back too much.
