Hello

 

   I am new here and had a question. I have always had a sort of fast heartbeat for as long as I can remember, but no Doctor has ever seemed to concerned.  It is usually in the mid to high 90's.  I recently started going to a new Dr. after we moved, and they did an EKG in his office during an exam.  He said it was just to have on record.  After viewing it he said there was no sign of having ever had a heart attack etc, but mentioned there was  a problem he said was 'electrical not plumbing' and that there was no treatment, but that people can live to be 100 with it.

I should have had him write it down for me, and I can call to verify on Tuesday of course.  I am not asking anyone for a diagnosis of course, I already have that.  Just wanted to know if this sounded like something familure to anyone so I can do a little research this weekend.

I also have very high cholestrol which he is giving an rx for if this helps.

Thank you for the welcome and the response els.  I am going to call the Doctor's office tomorrow.  It has been bugging me now and I wish I had had him write down the info at the time, but since he said there is no treatment, but that people can live to be 100 I sort of felt at the time there was not much since in it. 

But I was asking my husband if he had ever heard of a Doctor doing an EKG without a reason.  To do one just to have on record, and he said no, that as far as he knows they only do them if they suspect something.  So then it worried me that the Doctor didn't tell me what it was that caught his attention, if in fact there was something.

Long story short, now I am just worrying myself until I can call in the morning.

The nurse called back and said that my EKG was normal. I asked about a problem the Doctor mentioned. She said it was a bundle branch block, and it was nothing to be concerned about. I asked her if I would need to alert a Doctor of this if for instance I had an emergency room visit for something. She said no, that if such a visit required an EKG, they would find it, and just tell them it was already discovered, and that everything is fine.
