They are probably doing a cardiac catheterization or a radionucleotide angiography. This is where they will insert a catheter into her upper leg/groin area and inject some contrast to illuminate her arterial system to give the physicians an idea of the extent of her heart disease. Don't worry, it's perfectly safe - lots of people receive radioactive tracers for medical procedures and they tell patients to stay away from people for a few hours as a precaution, but your mom will be just fine. It will be good for her to see the extent of her disease and what treatments may be available to help relieve her angina.

They may have her run on the treadmill for a few minutes while she undergoes the procedure so they can see how her heart functions under stress (i.e., exercise) and this is a very routine part of the procedure. I hope this helped some, and I hope her test goes well! Keep us updated!

Maybe not, they may not go that route, they may do a PET scan, a stress test where they inject the dye and a drug to spead up your heart rate through an IV and she lays on a table and they do it like a CT scan, but the tube part goes around your chest not your head, it's less invasive, it takes about an hour, I had that done, it's not too bad.
