pericardial cyst anyone? IM worried...

Well to start off back around January or so I started having serious palpitations and a really bad "pressure feeling in my chest" that made me kinda cough. I went to dr and he put me on a holter monitor. for 24 hours. Came back and said "you have pvcs" and its nothing to worry about. So I didnt. Well the feelings I assumed I had to just live with. UNTIL last month I went in to get my breast mri and they saw a "incidental finding" of a cyst between heart and lung. Sent me for a CT SCAN. Then I get to go see the dr. He said it was 3cm by 5cm pericardial cyst in the heart sac and we will just check it again in Sept or so.Do another ct scan then. BUT this feeling is driving me crazy. Is this thing going to grow? Will it have to come out for me to feel comfortable again? Will it shrink? I am 36 years old. Has anyone ever had one of these?

Hi arkienks, I am sorry you havent had any responses so far.  I dont know much  about this disease but we do have a thread on this forum regarding pericarditis so I wonder if someone on there maybe will be albe to have some insight into what is going on with you or have some suggestions.  I am going to post a link for you at the bottom of post which will take you directly to that thread.

Hello, I also have a pericardial cysts thats approximately 7 cm x 5 cm. My doctor accidently found the cyst when I was getting a CT scan for lower abdominal pain, not related to the cyst. Other than a few episodes with palpataions last year i haven't had any symtoms associated with the cyst. I have had many tests done and the cyst is not affecting my heart in any way. I am due for a follow up MRI and am praying that the cyst has shrunk. I have read that they can go away on there own. Unfortunatley these cysts are so rare that there aren't many clynical tests that have been done. My cardiologist has never had a patient with a cyst of my size so he has refered me to another cardiologist. No matter what, the doctor is going to recommend getting it removed because there are no studies done to show what could happen in the long run.

Hello Sheena, Welcome to Healing Well forum, we are most happy to have you join us here.  I dont know much about Pericardial Cysts.  Is the cyst causing problems for you in any way?  Does it have to be removed if they are certian it is just a cyst?

Arkeinks, I to have been diagnois with a paricardial cyst and have found little information - I am currently waiting to see a specialist because my cardiologist did not know enough about this subject. I to feel like there is something in throat choking me and a terrible cough, I am now having anexity attacks from the not knowing and the not being able to do anything. please respond back if you have found any new info
