I have been thru Hell and back. Started 5 months ago - thinking I had sprained my right knee - they gave me crutches and a knee brace. After 4 days, didn't need the crutches - Dr. did not x-ray my knee. My knee never seemed to heal properly - continued getting worse and worse and started getting hip and pelvic joint pain.
For the last 2 weeks - it spread to my other knee-swelling and hurting so bad that I needed help getting up out of a chair. I started praying as I had crying in the middle of the night due to the pain in my legs and knees and the thought was put in my mind to Go to the Internet. Check side effects. As it turns out, I came upon a blog of people who pinpointed my exact symptoms and the drug was Vytorin. It is truly poison. I started that drug 2 weeks prior to my knee situation - over 5 months ago. I just got a referral to an Orthopedic Specialist who today confirmed I had severe muscle myalgia from the medication. I will need physical therapy-but the drug will eventually my system. I wonder how many people suffer from these side effects - eventually die and no one ever knows what happened. My pain has been so intense - worse than childbirth. I thank God for directing me to the right answer-he truly is an awesome God!

:-) Hi I can totally relate, my hip hurts so bad, has caused me to change my activity level, but I am scared silly to go off the statin, my cholesteral sky rockets, terrible problem to have.

I was on Vytorin 10/20 for about 7 months.  I stopped taking it one week ago.  It was causing pain/swelling (burning sensation)  in my hands and feet.  I've also noticed headaches and dark circles under my eyes.  My right hand would be swollen so bad that I could barely open it in the mornings.  One morning I had to use my left hand to straightened my right little finger (it was frozen in a bent position).  Walking was even uncomfortable.  Though I just recently got lab result and it did lower my cholesterol, I will not be taking Vytorin anymore.  I am eating my oatmeal every morning (adding a tsp of cinnamon) since I was told this is really good for lowering cholesterol.  I'm really glad I found this site.  It lets me know that I'm not the only one that has had problems with this medication.

Has anyone else had issues with the prostate (inflammation, distorted PSA test) after being on Vytorin?

I found only about 3 or 4 scattered reports of this, including the one above by jabvic. I also suspected the conclusion that the increased PSA was due to Vytorin to be incorrect but asked the group just in case. In my case, an 81 year old, I went from PSA 2.9 to 4.4 over a three year period. They are doing a retest in about a month but I also read that a "normal" PSA for a person my age is probably closer to 6.5.

I have been on vytorin for almost a year. It has brought my cholestrol down from 250 to 150. I havent given much thought to side effects other than what the pharmacy tells you in their pamphlet that comes with the meds. I have been feeling miserable for the past 6 months at least. I have been experienceing a lot of aches and pains, muscle weakness,tingling in my hands and feet, pain in my feet.. cramping in my hands to the point where i looked like i had palsy.. my fingers would curl  up. I have also been having some bad intenstinal problems.. severe stomach cramping and diarhea. I thought it was from eating cheese because the first 2 episodes were after eating cheese omelots. then i started to have these attacks after coffee. after lunch.. a co-worker who had gallstones told me that is what it sounded like..

I am also extremely tired all the time, have dizzy spells (which my dr said is probably vertigo) and i cant sleep at night. i also have restless legs at night which I never had before.

After hearing the news about Vytorin and how it may cause cancer, I called my dr and told him I didnt want to take it anymore. I stopped taking it 4 days ago and already some of the symptoms i had have lessoned. like the pain in my legs is gone. i can climb my stairs without pain in my knees.

I am worried though about my cholestrol. I have high blood pressure so I am also on bp meds and I also take Cymbalta for depression , which has not been working anymore and i cant help but wonder if the Vytorin is interfering with my anti-depressants.

My Dr is calling in a prescription for Zocor . Can anyone tell me about that? I know Vytorin has Zocor and another drug so I am pretty sure i will probably still have some (hopefully not all) of the side effects.

After reading what everyone has to say I am wondering if i should call him and tell him I dont want to take any cholestrol lowering meds?

All i know is that my depression was getting worse, not better and I felt soooooo bad. I am feeling a little better now.. Also does stopping Vytorin cold turkey make you hair fall out? I have been losing hair also,.,.

Has anyone have had there feet hurt. Somtimes it is my heel and at times it is the top of my feet right above the toes it feels like there a asleep.

I hanve been on the stuff for about four months and I feel tired all the time. I have been walking about 20 to 25 miles aweek. I know I should have alot more energy than I have.

I am going to make a doctors appointment and have my blood taken and talk to the doctor about the side effects. He also wanted me to take Niaspan and I got to looking into the side effect of that with taking Vytorin. Hot flushes,racing heart beat. I did not take them shakehead

Is it worth the side effect's rolleyes   I know that it is not good to have high number's. I am 45 and my dad died of heart fauiler and I have heart diese on all sides of the family. My doctor's said that I am flowing my dad's genes.

I have been on Vytorin for about three years now.  A couple of months ago I awoke with a dull ache in my left bicept.  I didn't think too much about it...just that I might have slept on my arm.  Over the past couple of months I have experienced a gradual spreading of this pain to my right bicept, both elbows, the back of my knees and my shoulders.  I have a general feeling of unwellness, tiredness and weakness.  I am going to my Dr. tomorrow but after reading this forum I have a feeling that I know what the problem is.  I am going to insist that he take me off the drug for at least a month to see if these symptoms clear up.  I am sixty-three and other than an occaisional stiffness I am in good health...until recently.

Has anyone experienced skin lesions/blemishes/sores - whatever you call them - upon taking Vytorin. I have been taking it for about 3 years and have eruptions of these mostly on my shoulders, back and arms. They take forever to heal, no medication seems to help and they are very deep. I take other meds too, but have sort of narrowed down these symptoms to the Vytorin, but can't find much information.
