My father just had a massive heart attack, what did the doctors mean?

My father had a massive heart attack yesterday, followed by another heart attack in the hospital. From what the doctors say he's very luck to be alive. Supposidly, his heart was having problems for over a week yet my dad didn't feel anything. We found out today that more than 50% of his heart was damaged and he may need bypass surgery. It's so soon after that I wonder if my dad is going to be OK especially with that much of his heart damaged. Can someone please tell me what I can expect in the next few days?

Hi StillLearning, I am so sorry about your father. Please know we would like to give you advice on what to expect but it would be best to ask this question from his physicians. Everyone is different, testing results and such, I would hate for someone to tell you something that is inaccuate. Please do keep us updated on how he is doing. Take care

I completely understand. After a few disputes with his insurance company my father was transfered to a speciality hospital. That performed whatever tests that needed to be done and inserted a stint. He was sent home yesterday with instructions to eat better, quit smoking and basically take better care of himself.

I am glad everything came out well for your father. I truely hope he does heed his physicians suggestions as those are going to be the most life altering changes he can make for better heart health. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
