The sympotm that always scared me the MOST was chest pain. Left side, right side, in the middle, "heartburn" type pain----just pain from under my bra to my throat, right arm pain, left arm pain and just pain!!!! Burning pain, heavy pain, sometimes sharp pain pressure pain---you name it! And all of the reports were that women's "heart attack" pain could mimic all of it. So I was either anxious or at the ER. And all of the tests were normal and I was going crazy. I also had fast heart beats (scary but evidently usually benign), or just a weird FLOP of my heart and then I would just feel wooozy and out of sorts and then sleepy. Dizzy , anxiety, faint, insomnia, depression, hot, cold ---really the list of "symptoms" goes on and on. I was told like everyone else that it was anxiety or just nothing---I did do lots of test and they all said that I was ok----but the chest pain was what really sent me over the edge most of the time. The rest was just annoying, uncomfortable, nervre wracking and and made my life unpleasant sometimes. I finally got a doc who encouraged me to have an angiogram once and for all to find out----no kidding---what was going on in there. I was really scared but I just DID it because I was completely driving myself to distraction and I was worried about
my kids and the affect that my anxiety was having on them and all of my trips to the ER---just to get checked. I am glad to say that the angio came out fine and now when I get chest pain I take some Motrin or Tylenol and just forget it. Now it's only been a week (angio on 9/19) but I feel a lot of relief and I hope it stays. I hope that helps some. It's just my way of dealing with it and I know you will find yours. Hang in there--- it's a difficult kind of challange--- get as much support from this board as you need---there is always someone to listen. Somewhere else I mentioned a book that was a life saver for me By James and Cheryl Duarte called The Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome/Dysautonomia Survival Guide. It was a REALLY BIG help. God bless
