Mitral and Tricuspid regurgitation?

Hi,

I had an echocardiogram and this is the summary of the report. I have appointment with my doc next week to discuss about it. Meanwhile if somebody can please throw some light on what it means, I would really appreciate.


"Intact systolic heart function with mitral regurgitation, mitral valve prolapse, aortic valve thickening, tricuspid valve prolapse, and tricuspid regurgitation with mild increase in estimated pulmonary pressure."

I have chest pain, headache, and anxiety all the time. Could they be happening because of my heart condition?

not to scare you or anything but the regurgitation is caused by the prolapses and thickening its when a little blood back flows into the chambers not to serious but will get serious if not fixed in your case not to scare you but your hearts pretty messed up.

well, my cardiologist told that it was nothing to worry about. Just need to eat good diet and exercise regularly.

Your cardiologist hopefully also told you to have regular cardiac check ups.   Apparently the degree of your valve thickening, prolapse and regurgitation is not to the point where it requires surgery, probably mild in nature.   It is very likely that down the road the situation may worsen to the point of surgery.   Keep an eye on it with yearly cardio exams.   Good luck.

Hi Miss Helen,

My cardiologist told that the valves leakage and the thickening were insignificant. Didn't mention anything about regular check ups. 

Thank you for the advice. I will keep it in mind and get it checked regularly.

I have mitral valve prolapse and it is very mild and a small leakage of blood. You are absolutely right you are not to worry because you will be fine. You do need to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Drinks lots of water. For my condition, I have to see a cardiologist yearly to monitor my heart valve but they said it is not likely for it to get any worse and I should live a long and healthy life without having to change any lifestyles.
