2 working arteries?

Hello, new to find this forum. Do need support. My husband had open heart in 1999 and again in 2001. He is in the end stage of heart desease. They put 2 stents in Oct. 9, (2 months ago) They tried to stent another artery but could not. He had a heart attack Dec. 4. The arteries they had stented before had formed clots. They will not do open heart again. He now has 2 working arteries. They put stents in back in 2001, and they ended up having to do open heart, the stents did not work. Do some people have a hard time with stents? He is still in the hospital in CCU. The doctors say he will probably be put into a private room in a couple of days, but they will not tell me what to expect. He has a wonderful cardiologist and I know they have done all they can do. .....I know that only God knows. But, how long could you possibly live with 2 working arteries? I do hope not, but has anyone else experienced this or know someone who has? Thanks for your replies and I send you all my best. Maxi77

Just for a bit of background FYI info, there are three major coronary arteries in a person's heart, two of which arise from a common stem referred to as the, 'Left Main Coronary Artery.' The left main coronary artery supplies the left side of the person's heart, with the left anterior descending (LAD) branch supplying both the left-lateral and back side of their heart. The Right Coronary Artery (RCA) supplies both the right and bottom parts of the person's heart.



I am wondering which one is not working of these three.



<SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Transmyocardial Laser Revasularization (TMR): TMR is an alternative for persons who are not potential candidates for either bypass surgery or angioplasty. During TMR a surgeon uses a laser catheter in order to create a number of pinholes in the person's heart muscle. These holes encourage the growth of new vessels in the heart muscle. TMR is a procedure that can be performed alone, or in conjunction with a coronary bypass surgery.



This may be someting you could ask your husband's physician about but I know it will depend on how strong your husband's condition is.



My oldest sister died 2 years ago of a massive heart attack. She went to surgery for quad bypass of clogged arteries and a mitral valve replacement. She went into cardiogenic shock and from their went on life support so this is one of those things you just don't know what the outcome will be.



Her cardiologist told us she would do fine and be off life support in 5 days..............she never did come off and we tranferred her to a major cardiac center but the damage was to great so just keep on belieiving as we never gave up until the decision was made by her God that it was her time to leave us behind.



I can tell you many stories of great successes too. Miracles do happen my new friend.

Thank you so much, very informative. Now I can find out more from the doctor. He is still in the hospital, they are trying to get his medication regulated for the trigeminy, then they will release him. They say the only way they will attempt a 3rd by-pass is if he has more problems. I will let you know which arteries are working. Thank you for your prayers, we need that more than anything. I talked to the nurse, she said they could not stent the OM, she said it supplies blood to the left and bottom or back of heart. She said the chart did not say the amount of blockage that was there. Does that mean he will not get enough oxygen to that area. If there is alot of blockage could it kill that side of the muscle? Thank you for you help again.
