Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with WPW about 5 years ago. I have only had 2 serious episodes where my heart was racing near 200 bmp and I had to go to the hospital for it.

I think Iam going to have the ablation done because I am so sick of living in fear of it happening again. (It is so scary). Have any of you had the ablation done for WPW? What was the procedure like? I am SO scared to have it done it's not even funny.

Also, for those of you with WPW do you also have a feeling like your heart is missing beats? Mine has been doing that alot lately. Its not racing but it feels like it is missing beats and it takes my breath away.

Please share your experiences!

What is WPD? I have SVT which is a racing heartbeat,and I just had the ablation

WPW is a pre-excitation syndrome and if you google you will find many articles on the web. The definitive treatment of WPW syndrome is a destruction of the abnormal electrical pathway by radiofrequency catheter ablation.


I am sorry no one has had any info re your question, jackie81, and will admit I have no personal info to help you out.

Hi there my daughter has wpw since she was 2. Now at 9 the doctors at the univerisity medical center wants or recommends the rf ablation. She has been with atenolol since 2 years old. We refused the rf ablation because of the success rate of only 92%. The chances of dying of wpw is only .02% of wpw patients, so she has been with no episodes for more than 3 years. She takes 12.5 mg of atenolol per day.
