Pericardial Cyst

I have been to a internal medicine doctor who sent me to a cardiologist who tried to send me to another cardiologist for this pericardial cyst that cardiologist did not even want to see me, so my cardiologist sent me to a lung doctor who now wants me to go to an ENT im very frustrated and cant seem to get any relief from my symtoms does any one know of any doctors in the south that deal with pericarial cyst?

I know this post is a couple of months old, but I thought I'd chime in to say I've been diagnosed with a pericardial cyst, too. Since 2001, I've had bouts of a chronic cough. I'll have a persistent tickle/itch in my throat and an unproductive cough. These bouts usually last 3-5 months. In 2008, I finally went to my doctor to figure out what the heck was going on. Had an x-ray, saw something near my heart, sent me to a cardiologist.

The cardiologist diagnoses me as having a small pericardial cyst. It's been a while, but I think I remember him saying draining it with a needle was an option, but since it was small, it might not help, and there was no guarantee it wouldn't come back. Surgery was also mentioned, but it sounded intensive, so I took a few weeks to think things over and the cough went away (it had lasted about 4 months at that time). The cardiologist wasn't concerned about my health. He said the cysts can some times get large enough to constrict the heart and cause problems, but mine was just annoying. He did say that we'd watch it and if I decided I couldn't stand it anymore, we'd do another CT scan and talk more. I was in and out of the country for the last two years, so I never went back to him, even though I've had the cough off and on since then.

I'm not back in the country and have the cough again. I've *only* had it two months this time, but I'm so friggin' tired of coughing, so I'm scheduled to meet with the cardiologist tomorrow. If he says anything interesting, I'll let you know. I'm pretty sure he'll just schedule me for a CT scan so I probably won't learn much.

Have you found a doctor to help you yet? What options have you discussed?

T wave changes are non-specific. Inversions of the T waves can be caused by something benign, like hyperventilation or electrolyte changes, or by something severe like lack of blood flow to the heart.
Having an echo is a good thing so try not to overthink the T-waves. If you should start to have new sx or an increase in any of your current symptoms do call your cardiologist immediately or present to an ER just to be on the safe side.

My husband was recently diagnosed with a pericardial cyst after a chest x-ray followed up with a CT scan. He had an appt. last week with a cardiologist who ordered a Echogram. The cyst is 9cm. My husband has a cough and a tickle in his chest area. He doesn't appear to be having any serious symptoms but he is wanting the cyst removed but his primary physician said it is a intensive operation and suggest just monitoring it unless the cardiologist, after they echogram results suggest different. My husband is 60yrs. of age. The local cardiologist we met with has never dealt with a pericardial cyst. Any suggestions?
