Pericarditis - should a doctor be able to hear it or not?

I was diagnosed with pericarditis about 1.5 months ago. I'm curious whether it has gone away. My primary care doc said that the EKG showed it was still there. This was about... 3-4 weeks ago. Then, I saw a cardiologist who told me that one be able to hear it if it is still there, and other conditions can mimic pericarditis if it exists.

Saw the primary care doc again last this past Monday... or was it Tuesday. He said in some cases you can't hear it.

Should I get a third opinion? I know it's unusual for it to last very long.

When listening with a stethoscope, the doctor may hear a grating sound as the heart moves, called a pericardial friction rub.
