My friends I vol with at nassau HUmane will send a pet sitter my way to take care of my animal;s instead of the boys I am glad also thyroid doctor told me he wants me in the AC of EOC because of my thyroid is probably acting up with this stress not to mention my heart disease just wait aand se but hurricane by this afternoon they are saying. Whew too early in the season and the pek isnot till August and Sept . OH well get more canned meat and a can opener that works etc...Still no generator but they say it is always the prettiesr and hottest before a hurricane too.

Stay safe, Heidi! Gosh I must have missed the posts about hurricanes down there. I'll keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. And, going ot go watch the weather news to see what is going on. Then going to bed early tonight. Hugs!

We finally saw some rain tonight (we really needed that!) and even a momentary power loss with a lightening strike.

Teri, glad you got some rain. We haven't had too much here in SW Michigan. We had 2 quick rain storms that took some limbs down, but it sure did not last nearly long enough....the rain part. Already my grass is getting yellow! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend. We have a memorial on Saturday. I'm going up north a lot this summer to spend time with my mom, so I'll be gone all weekend again. Everyone stay safe. Don't let any hurricanes get ya!

hi all,

how lovely, to just spend about 30 minutes reading back several days and catch up on what's going on with "my forum"!  it's like running into the dearest of old friends.

i haven't written this week 'cause i've felt so low and didn't feel like whining.  just feeling low about still hurting so much and sometimes scared and sometimes pissed and sometimes frustrated with the gang that's supposed to be helping and steering me.   well, i 'magine most of you understand.

anyway, my spirits are back up a bit and i'm glad to say in the meantime i am now seeing a lovely therapist, i just love her already, helping to keep me sane, that's a big job!  AND i found out today that i am indeed having a second heart cath, next wednesday.  i am actually glad about this.  i still have a lot of heaviness in my chest and altho my cardioboy feels its gastro related, we both feel that it's best to look.  and we both think how nice it will be this time when he squirts the die through and it goes right on through my clear little stented arteries, right ladies?  so then the procedure stops, i go home, i can feel much much more confidant about the ole ticker.  then i can focus on the gastro stuff and getting pain relief from that so that i might eat again.  remember i AM in texas, red meat is my life, i miss it - hahah!  i'd really rather have a margarita but it's not on the list either.  maybe soon...

meanwhile, heidi lie low.  lil hope the tachy problem is going to work out asap with your doc next week, barb what's your status?, kathlyn you feeling ok? and mz teri - you always have so much going on, kindly sum up and rewrite for the benefit of the healing well slacker (that's me).

Glad to see you back libby we have been missing ya.

Hey yu a'All go read  natural Disasters and Heart Disease abuot your supply kit you ned to have onhand for any type of disaster since I am now certified and trained from EOC and FEMA to help out in any type of disaster I want to make sure it will smotth sailing for you all too. I now our heart rate and flight and fight kick in but the more prepared we are the batter are we are to react to these things. yes I am trying to remain calm till I get my test done on the 28th I get aall my throiod and cardio blood work done this Mon to make sure  lipitor is workking and my thyroid too will have a sonogram on my thyroid to make sure my nodules arenot growing any. Get those reports the 25,26,27th of July then my breast mass Mammogram on the 28th so last week of july down at dr's in afternnon 1:20 and 1:30 their goes most of the day too. let yuo all know all the results end of july. Hey yu all in Ala,La and west copast of Florida and those in Cuba etc please be carfull with Hurricane Dennis now a category 5.

Well, hello,(((( Libby))))!!

I'm in complete agreement with all that is going on with these tests. I was sort of wondering when they'd get around to the cath...have you had the stress tests, echo's, etc.?? Due to my GERD and Barrett's that is one of the first things they look at with both my heart and asthma!- the gastric side of things. Though so far, it has seemed, in my case, not to have been related.

You and I must have been under the same moon, Libby. I have been battling depression for 2 yrs. now since my CHF diagnosis. With all I've had going on of late, it seems that the Lexapro was not helping, so I'm now on Zoloft and I'm happy to say, it seems to have finally kicked in! It's been a long past few weeks. So I can understand and appreciate your dilemma. Please keep in touch with us more often and maybe we can all commisserate together! :)

Best wishes and nothing but positive thoughts for your Heart Cath! (btw is this your first one?)

Heidi, thank you once again for all that great info you posted under Heart Disease and Natural Disasters!! :) I learned a lot from reading it myself and hopefully others will find it valuable information as well!

Kathy, my thoughts are with you!! Enjoy being with your Mom...I know the weekend will be one of sadness for you, too, my prayers to you and your family.

teri - nope, this is heart cath #2.  and that's one reason i've been a bit discouraged.  i am about at month 4 for the first one, so i'd hoped i was getting near that good 6 month OK mark.  now must start all over, ugh.  but hey, to get a clear report, that's of course what i'm hoping for, and hoping it will really lift muh spirits.

heidi, gosh dennis sounds awfully bad.  i have a friend who runs a B&B in pensacola and he's about as worried as i've ever heard him; still getting over last years disaster.  i hope it fades out before doing any damage at all to florida -

Libby, you know I sure wish you well! - and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!! I sure hope that the cath is clear - it is the gold standard at this point in time for determining the status of the coronary arteries, so as you said, at least you'll know! Hugs, Teri :)

If yuo can all yur friend in Pensacola and tell him/her to board up ouor cousins son was evacuated from the base up their they are saying this will be the worst Hurricane to hit us in July and the peak doesnot come till mid August early Sept. Lets see right now a beautiful sunny day of 90 and a slight breeze blowing outside but under a torandoe watch till 4 pm and they are saying they will up tahat and it will probabl;y extended into early Mon A>M> So far we havenot been called ut but it wuld be near us in uor section of town if we are needed. just alot of rain and winds and  street floodings and possible torandoes we get all that ion big afternoon thunder storms. Ijsut pray and know my huose is built on the rock nott he sinking sand.

I'll say a prayer fro yuor friend in the panhandle too.

Folks in Ala, Miss., La head for cover plese and take all warning seriously this is a storm not tobe mesed with and thinking it might turn the other way it culd but we all gott o be prepared too. But Libby good luck with yuor cath too so sorry it is so soon afetrer your other one. I am alitle bu=it down due to my mammogram being put off till July 28th but i had a dear family friend  get to call and it got moved up from teh middle of August till end of July. I love this family friend like my own sister.

Good luck everyone if we lose power I'll call a friend and have her post for me.But weather people are saying for us it wilol be like a bad North Eater if it stays on course and doesnot vere  anywhere closer to the state of fla.

I am safe Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and didnot get called out either what a relief with an earlymorning doctor apoinment witht he vampire ladies to get my blood tongue   then my sonogram on my thyroid then home sweet home .

Just 2 inches of rain and some wind had  thunsder storms worse than this and then torando watch till 1 am and  Flood watch till 8 am Monday. Oh well want to go get a nice warm bath and hit the bed early have to fast for these tests nomeds at all so bring a glass of tea and then take all my meds after i give bloo=d eat a half a bagel and margarine then go get sonogram, But yes if any of you were in Dennis the Mennace way check in my folks up in Ind wille geting rain late Monday into Tues and Wed they ned it. My grandma bles her heart at age 100 end of this Aug was taken ut to lunch at olive garden someone mentioned the Hurricne cane all she sid is my daughter in Fla Vol with the fire and rescue dept nd she knew in may it was going to be bad year. I listened to her and then aaate her dinner. well got to go but please check in.

heidi, glad you are all safe and sound.  my friend in pensacola left there of course

but is going home tomorrow and thinks all is well at his B&B.  thank goodness!

teri, how are YOU doing?  seems you and i were both struggling with the same probs

lately just staying on top of all this emotionally.  i am back on a relative upswing, in

spite of the fact that i'm having the second cath on wednesday.  i'm actually glad

they're doing it, i'm really hoping to wake up in recovery and hear the beautiful

words "all is OK" - but if i don't hear them, hopefully i'll hear "we were able to repair

all damage"!  either way, i will be glad to get it done, but dread the starting over

of recovery from zero again.  but as you told me when i first joined this forum:

it sure beats the alternative! 

okay, hope you're having a good night, i've had a very rough day,  had to take a

nitroquick, and that helped somewhat, but i'm constantly with this heaviness and

pain.  i feel the pain is mostly gastro, my esophageal spasms, but they hurt SO BAD

and are a little scary due to the location.  many docs have told me now to take

nitro for that pain, even if it IS gastro.  i get a little lightheaded and yucky feeling

from the nitro.  they're talking about giving me the patch, so now i need you to tell

me all about that!  smaller, constant dose?

Hi Libby! I see 'we' night owls are back at it again. lol I really wish you all the very best on that heart cath on Wed.!! Where are you having it done...oops, you may not want to disclose, it's okay. I've had most of my procedures done of late at the Heart Hospital of Austin - though my last procedure was a cath last March on my birthday and all went well! :) So I wish you the same!
I don't remember (memory blanks) if you ever mentioned your age. I'm 53. I think as we age it is sort of expected to have some things go awry...however, I've had enough, how bout you?! :)
Libby, I started at .2 mg. Patch. Then 6 mos. after the bypass I went up to .4 mg. - diagnosis small vessel disease. Now I'm wearing a .6 mg. patch and I'm still taking Nitro tabs. on top of that, more frequently than I'd care to admit. (btw - I've been told the same thing re nitro and esophageal spasms and/or asthma.) My depression which has been diagnosed as 'clinical' depression seems to have come back under control with the Zoloft. Some time next wk. I see my PCP re this. Then I have the MRI on my lower back/pelvic area/hips on the 19th, on the 20th I see my neurologist re my seizure activity and migraines & the fact that I had to stop the med for that... But you know with all that said...I'm really tired!! ROFL That'll teach you to ask how I'm doing!! :) Hugs, Teri :)

Just a point of clarification to all of you who like to post in red. People with cataracts and glaucoma many times have a tough time with the color red. My father has both and there isn't a red thing in his apartment. It hurts his eyes and gives him headaches. I think this is why beachjay posted about it on the thread about women and heart disease.

So maybe Oona and Beach Jay have either one Catrcats or glaucoma or they plain just donot like Red nono eyes . But Gain thanks for the advice. do you have trouble reading red gain?


We arewatching Emily now and seeing what way it will go redface . We are geting calls stillbt only once a day now to do ouor usually stuff from June 1 till Nov 30 we have this and it is a busy seson I was told this in my FEMA and AOC classes back in MAY and the pek isnot till middle of Aug till end of Sept. so bring 'em on We survived muchg darn anything last year.

Thanks, Steve, for pointing that out. Both my Father and Mother had eye problems - my Dad had several cataracts and my Mom had glaucoma and my Mom actually loved the color red and wore it often. So I wouldn't have realized this...

Please, if anyone has a problem with seeing colors, due to an eye problem, perhaps you could bring this to my attention.

In the case cited above, no mention of this was made and another party joined in with it laughing about this. I have my email open to the public here if they would care to write me personally re this.

The forum was re Women's Heart Health where this was brought up and the forum here "Chatting" is the one we generally try to use for discussing more 'off topic' personal issues.

I hope this is better for,the ones who donot like red I never thuoght of that with eye problems I have them too and it doesnot bother me but the yellow and light green does.

Hey yu all watch out we got Emily trying to stir up trouble nd franklin off the coast of africa now that is the one to watch. ok I'll post inblue now on if no one has any problems witht hat and again thanks Gain for reminding us. Ok.

I am surprised about the color, too. Gosh I learn something new everyday. I guess you really can teach old(er) dogs new tricks, lol. I use red quite often and now that I know that I will not use it. The blue is real clear.
