Not sure if this is normal?

 On Christmas Eve, I had a double bypass open heart surgery. I have several other medical problems, but this I must say was the scariest and most painful experience ever. I am still having quite a bit of pain in my incisions and my chest feels like I went 6 rounds with Mike Tyson, and all he did was punch my chest. I can't sleep laying down because it hurts to much to breathe, I keep opening my incisions every time I stand or sit. I haven't had a cigarette in 24 days, but I want one. I feel like the lack of sleep ( I am currently sleeping on a chair with an ottoman in the living room, most comfortable place right now), and this pain is making me crazy. I have been getting out and walking 5-6 days a week with my husband- but I was under the impression the pain would have lessened by now. I know that pain is relative, but I have had 10 other surgeries, and have grown a tolerance for pain due to some chronic conditions, but this is RIDICULOUS! Does anyone have a more reasonable estimate, than "when you feel better" as to how long I will feel this worn out, and in terrible pain? Thanks Alexis

Each person responds to pain in their own way, what did your Dr. tell you as staying in contact with him is wise while you are healing.

It seems to me that your Dr. would attempt to intervene with the continuous opening of your incision ?

Perhaps you would like to share a bit more info.

Have to say, kind of disappointed. Over 200 people read my stuff- and only one reply. Don't feel very supported. I had heard good things about this being a place to talk openly and get support. Feeling a little stupid for posting.

You asked fairly specific things, and you have been through serious surgery. Many people won't post about things they have no experience with, and few if any of us are doctors. Even if we were doctors, without first hand knowledge of the particulars of your condition, most still wouldn't comment.

I hope you stay on the forum, your experiences can help others, so that the next person with similar experiences, you can say that "in your experience, this is what happened". The forum is also wonderfully moderated. It would be far better that no one responded to your situation and caused no harm, than to have someone reassure you and have something go wrong. I can understand your feelings, but have seen many people extend themselves to others. But of course not everyone receives many responses, it's not you, or the other people, it's the question and ability for others to answer it.
