4.3 cm aneurysm

sa i read all these stories, about thoracic aorta annerysms,...it calms my fears. i was diagnosed with a 4.3, annerysm in dec, 2months ago. have had chest pains, for months,....went to a boston hospital, had a catherization,..& had 2 stents put in, had a heart attack, & 2 100% blocked arteries. family history, ( on my mom's side,) lost grandfather, 4 aunts,& a 1st cousin, died from "not knowing", they had annerysms. all this is "terrifying" me. will have another CT scan in march. the cardiologist, say's, i might have to be watched, a little more closely, because of family history. i'm also recovering from pericarditas. thanks for all your stories.

thank you,...i am so happy to have found this site. i'm still nervous about the annerysm. do you think a surgeon, would decide to do a repair, sooner, because of my family members', dying from, annerysms,(they didn't know they had.) i'm only measuring @ 4.3. i have CT scans, every 6 months, to watch nodules in my lungs. (that's how they found the annerysm.) weird thing is,...no one saw the annerysm, on my last 2 CT scans. can the annerysm grow to a 4.3, in 1yr.? i do have CAD, (coronary heart disease.) i go & see my cardiologist, march 26th. will have "lots" of questions. it's been a long 2 months. today,...still having pain in my heart area. thanks for listening.

dear nightingale57,....thank you for your response, & words of encouragement. i do see my cardiologist, on the 26th,...should i ask him for some surgeons references,...& at least get the ball rolling? it seems so sureal to me,..to think i could be facing open heart surgery some day. just recuperating from a heart attack, is scarey, i tiresome. i'm so happy you're doing better, & the surgery is behind you. can i ask you, how big your annerysm was, when they decided to do the surgery? wow, running 4 nights a week,...that's "awesome." thanks,...timely

nightingale57,.....i live in the boston area. i go to the beth isreal hospital, i know people come from all over the world to the heart& cardioligist unit. i've already had a second oppinion, with the cardiologist, because of all of all my other heart problems. i guess now, i'll have him start researching, ( & myself.) for a surgeon. i go, a week from today, for another CT scan. i'm also, a small women too.they say i also have a small leak, in one of my valves. they don't seem too worried about that. i guess, it's just a waiting game now. still trying to get my strength back, from the heart attack, & having the 2 stents put in. at least i know about the annerysm,..but, none of my family members, knew they had one. i think, from losing them,( having theirs rupture.), is what scares me. but, i will think positive! thanks,..timely

nightingale57,....thank you for your support. i'm so glad i came upon this site. no one knows the stress, of fearing open heart surgery,...until, they have experienced a diagnoses, of an annerysm. i am blessed in life. i have 8 beautiful,..& healthy grandchildren, to keep me thinking positive. will keep in touch. timely.

I've been doing research on young people that have an ascending aortic aneurysm, but I haven't found any my age. I was wondering if anyone else who is 21 has an ascending aortic aneurysm. I just learned that mine has grown to a 4.3 cm since my last CT scan back in 2012, I also have high blood pressure and I'm on 3 different medications for it.

Hi all, I have a biscopic heart valve and an anurism of about 4.3 and had my cardiac MRI scan yesterday. I'm 46 and a non smoker and rarely have a drink and only found this out at the start of the year. I have two young kids and I'm so worried that I'm facing open heart surgery to fix all of this. How long will it take to recover ? Will I survive etc. I know it sounds like I'm a bit of a drama queen but I've never been this worried in my life, just scared. I'm getting the best of medical help as I have private healthcare here in Ireland but the worry remains. I'm a small guy and relatively fit, when do they actually decide to operate as I'm hearing different things. This is my first time here but it seems a great place to be.
