Can you develop svt from anxiety

Stress hormones, Catecholamines, are released during stress. Even a cursory search for SVT and Catecholamines shows that Catecholamines can induce SVT.

Best to follow through with your doctor, but stress can be a factor.

Stress can cause irregular beats as well as running blood pressure up.
I can attest to that. You might want to ask your doctor for something for your anxiety.

SVT, or SupraVentricular Tachycardia, is not usually considered dangerous rhythm, though it is frightening. Supra means above. SupraVentricular is a rhythm that originates above the ventricles.

Tachycardias that originate on the ventricles are of significant concern, fortunately this isn't the case for you.

I've taken benzodiazepines in one form, or another, modestly, for 30 years now. I use Klonopin now, it has a long half life, but you'd need to be careful with the dose as it can lower the blood pressure. It has never caused problems with my heart rhythm, in fact it helps me get through times when my arrhythmia acts up.

I've had short bouts with PSVT, Paroxysmal SVT, it's scary, but it's been relatively short.

I'm scared to take SSRIs also ,
My blood pressure is 90/60 always been low but I thought that panic attacks are harmless to ones heart especially if you don't have heart desiese but now I found out you can go into a funky heart rythm even with out any history of svt , ugh I really didn't need to find that out .

Sinus tachycardia is a form of SVT, principally since it originates in the heart's normal pacemaker, the SA Node, which is located above the ventricles, or SupraVentricular.

One site said that Heart Rates between 130 and 220 are possible.

2. Risk Factors  

There are several factors that may increase your chance of having an attack or developing symptoms. In general, PVST:

Affects women more often than men
Most commonly develops in a person's 20s or 30s, but can occur at any age
Occurs more often in people who are anxious, under stress, or physically fatigued
Hyperactive thyroid gland
Excess caffeine or alcohol use
Respiratory illnesses
Low potassium and magnesium levels
Valvular heart disease

Having your Thyroid levels and potassium/magnesium levels checked wouldn't by a bad ides.

One very interesting article I read just now said that PSVT can give you anxiety, and care should be taken to assure that the tachycardia is caused by the anxiety and not the anxiety caused by the tachycardia. Interesting point.

People go into SVT for extended periods of time with no harm. For the vast majority of people, it's not a threat to the heart. Vagal maneuvers can be performed to stop the accelerated rate. The vagus nerve connects to the SA node of the heart, and can slow the heart down remarkably, that's it purpose.

Ask your doctor about Vagal maneuvers and tell him/her why you're interested. It's a common and often effective way to stop a bout of it.

If your doctor examined you, EKGs, testing, etc., and feels that everything is OK, relax. Just because it "can" happen in the presence of anxiety, doesn't mean it "will" happen, because it "won't" happen to the vast majority of people with anxiety.
