I had this procedure done two days ago at Health Park Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida. The ablation, which included a cardiac mapping, last two and a half hours. I was given relaxing medicine and was in and out of awareness. Doctor from Florida Heart Associates used a catheter to go up both groins. Minimal discomfort. Felt a burning sensation at one point. Had my first episode of a-fib in August. Underwent a cardioversion in September: it put me back into a normal rhythm. Had another episode of a-fib five weeks later. Doctor has prescribed flecainide. If it doesn't work, he plans to do a left side ablation.
