hi all,

i'm home!  i got stuck in chicago due to rita - couldn't travel back, just made it back last night.  teri, what did you ever find out from your doc and what are they going to do?  i made it through my trip relatively OK, just a few little attacks of pain here and there but drugs helped me make it through!

i have walked back in from out of town to find that my little "Twig" (my boston terrier) is critically ill, and tonight the vet is coming over to send him on his way across the bridge.  to say that i'm devastated would be a gross understatement.  my little sweetie pie, next to darren, is my only companion and "family."  so...i won't be on forum tonight and am exhausted from an unplanned week out of town anyway, so it might be the weekend before i catch back up.

but hope all of you are well and that all our healing well family made it through the hurricane with minimal damage.

hi mz teri,

thanks for the kind words about twig.  darren says he has 9 lives:  the vet couldn't come tonight, so he says he will come one day this weekend.  twig has felt better the past 2 days then he has in weeks, the little stinker.  making it harder and harder to do what we must do.  we had a lovely walk down by the river tonight, lots of ducks out, cooler weather, twig was lively in his little wheelchair, played with his ball, etc. 

how goes the remodeling?  ahem, does it seem like the guys won't make their intitial deadline?  how are you feeling physically?  i hope this remodeling doesn't stress and wear you out.

i'm going to Big D in the morning for an MRI.  nothing new, just something else someone wants to look at.  i had a massage today so i'm reasonably relaxed!

how was the chat tonight?  sorry i couldn't be there.

Libby, there were mixed results with the neurosurgeon and I won't find out for certain perhaps til next week what his thoughts are on all this. I do know that my Zoloft was increased after the visit. So I'm not a happy camper at all with any of this. Plus construction is at a complete standstill - now I know why they cover themselves and allot so much leeway in time for the completed project. lol Though without mentioning any names the company that is doing the project is a major co. and they are the best!! The guy in charge has done everything, but flips to try and get this moving - but sometimes hands are tied...such is the world of construction. :) And no, I'm still so very excited about it all that it's not stressing me in the least...we're all just 'camping'.

Another reprieve - Twig is the luckiest dog ever!! I'm so happy for all of you! Who said cat's had cornered the nine lives theory?! A massage? Ooooh how wonderful that sounds. I'm glad you had a couple of nice things happen...

thanks teri. hope your construction moves ahead soon, and quickly! it's a real pain to have your house so "out of order"!
enjoying twig today especially, and it's sunny and lovely here in the foat. hope it is down in your hill country too...

I heard from the neurosurgeon today and it's not real good news. He said that surgery is not an option for me, as I have severe arachnoiditis covering the nerves in the spinal area, and there is nothing that can be done. :( He recommends pain management at this time. Which means exercising is out, as far as anything that will make the scar tissue worse, and by not exercising it won't help my heart muscle. I see my Cardio Dr. on Tues. so will hear what his thoughts are at this point. A little bit of a down moment hearing that, but I sort of knew already. I'm going to wait and hear from the Cardio Dr. and take it from there. I'll keep you all posted. He also said the hips showed some arthritis as well as the back area.

I'm a 'tough nut to crack' as my PCP tells me. lol So I'll be around for a long time to keep you all on your toes!

My daughter has her first marching competition of her Senior year, so we'll be heading off to watch that this afternoon! :) Yes, my husband has our camcorder all ready to go - just bought a new battery for it! lol

I started retaining some fluid again, but hopefully it'll stay contained at this level, as the Dr. that I "fired" is on call this weekend and he has not returned my call.

Hi Teri, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. It all seems to come at once too. I know how that is. I'm feeling pretty good. I had some shortness of breath yesterday but think it is just my asthma. I'll keep an eye on it and if it comes back will have to get it checked out. I am patiently waiting for my son and grandbaby to come. They are leaving on Monday morning. I can't wait to spoil her and my son. I have to go shoping tonight to get all my sons favorites and some of Bella's too. The Marine Corps is waiting until Tuesday to charge his wife so that it doesn't ruin Josh's leave time with his baby. They want to make sure he is gone before they do it so that she can't try to keep the baby there. My son is doing all this so he can get full custody. I am still amazed at what an awesome dad he has turned out to be. Well have to get back to work on getting ready for their visit. So much to do and so little time. Barb

It sure sounds like a few good things are going your son's and Bella's way!! I really hope it does work out well for the both of them!
Re your SOB? What would cause you to have that other than asthma? Have you had this before from your heart? Angina? Please take care, Barb!

Libby, with the scar tissue getting worse, the more you exercise and move around the more it rubs on the different things it's surrounding and it grows. So will have to see what they can figure out. When I'm doing much of anything these days, I'm really hurting by nightfall. I've been fighting taking narcotics, but the Neurontin isn't doing it all - tho it has helped tremendously!! (It's called severe arachnoiditis).

hi teri,

i'm particularly curious about the scar tissue problem you have as i am the scar tissue queen.  all the surgeons say i'm literally covered with it from neck to whoozits, if you know what i mean.  so many surgeries.  the biggest recommendation i've had from everyone is to not have any more surgeries!  i think that is one of the big concerns of my cardioguy too.  at any rate, the prescription for that is of course to rest.  i didn't know 'til you said what you did that moving around a lot might actually aggravate the scar tissue problem.  so what do we do?  need to be active and moving around for the ole ticker, but moving around a lot is painful.  what are YOUR thoughts?

twig is hanging in.  we are day to day, but we will take day to day!  thanks for asking -

Libby, because the scar tissue is wrapped around spinal nerves they said it can cause several problems which I won't get into now...however, the neurosurgeon has recommended - pain management. So I will be calling my PCP and Neurologist re this - so I don't know how to answer for your condition - I would imagine if it's causing pain? then it would be treated similarly? Your best bet would be to discuss this with you Dr.'s.

Re the heart - that's what was happening with my stents - they were scarring so quickly and completely. It wasn't so much the plaque as it was scarring. So I can definitely understand you concern re this!!

I'll let you know what I learn as I learn it...perhaps someone else here could add to this?!

hi teri,

thanks for the info on scarring.  at my last heart cath in july they didn't see any scarring around the stents that were put in in february, thank goodness.  but i am scar queen.  i just started going to a neurologist who gave me some gentle and specific exercises to do to help with the scar tissue and pain from it.  he said i must do them every day, and so far i admit i have not been faithful!  so i have no one to blame but myself -

hope you have had a good sunday and that construction kicks back in smoothly tomorrow!

Hello, Teri and all. How are you feeling, Teri? I hope the fluid has been contained and that things are going MUCH better for you!

I'm getting ready for work, but wanted to drop in and say hi. My busy weekends are done now I think. My mother was home from FL this summer and I went up almost every weekend (at least for the past month) to see her. She left this morning to go back. I'll sure miss seeing her, but it's been tiring. I had not seen her in 2 years. She couldn't come back last summer because of her health, and I was having a lot of fears about leaving here to go see her. That seems to have diminished a great deal...the fears. Thank God! Lots of praying, and the love and help of my friends, got me through that. This year I hope to fly down to see her and spend a week. about the middle of winter in MI sounds like a good time to leave, lol. Have a great week! Stay healthy and safe everyone!

Hi Kathy! I know it was sad for you to say goodbye to your Mom!! Those long weekends traveling to see her and working all week, I know was taking it's toll on you, so you are right! - Going to Fla. in the middle of a Mi. winter would be wonderful for you both! :)

Hi Libby! From what you are telling me, I'm thinking that your scar tissue was from organ, or tissue removal and they were thinking of the scar tissue 'sticking' or adhering to another organ? - and that's what the exercises were for?

Where's the magic wand when I need it?!

Hi Teri, I think it was just asthma because it caused me to cough like when I have problems with asthma. No pain though. I was outdoors also and have alergies so that tends to kick up problems with the asthma. I had no further problems even when I rode my bike so guess that's what it is. My son is on his way with the baby. She's a good little traveler. He is stoping in Lexington Kentucky for the night with her. He'll have another 600 miles to go tomorrow. I am so excited. I still have some things to do to get completely baby proofed like shut up my computer cabinet and lock it for one thing. It's in the spare bedroom her and daddy will stay in. I have their bed all made with fresh sheets and a comforter since it will be getting down to 30's come Friday night up here. Brrrrrr. I hate the cold. Well better get to bed I still have to work half a day tomorrow. I'm only working half days while my son is here. I'll try to check in with you all but can't promise anything since I will be very busy with the baby. tongue Barb

yes, my scar tissue is apparently from organ removal, and it's causing things to

stick together down thar.  things like miles of bowel and anything and everything

it comes into contact with.  it sure makes exercise difficult if not impossible

sometimes.

meanwhile...did construction get back on track at your place?
