Hello! I'm a 28yr old female mother of two, very active fit mom. I've had svt for years (only a an episode or two a year ) but they seemed to have been getting worse and irritating my heart so I took my doctors advice and had an ablation this last Wednesday August 5th 2015z today is Sunday, so I'm four days post ablation. I feel fine when resting, but if I stand my heart rate jumps from the 70s to 100s (102-112bpm) . It will stay that way too until I go lay back down. I'm so afraid I've somehow created a new problem ?! I felt completely normal before my ablation on no medications. Now I fear I have developed POTS or inappropriate tachycardia ? Is this normal ? I've searched the Internet for people's post ablation experiences and all i can find is there issues with pvc's. I have those too from time to time but the palpitations (increased heart rate, pounding heart ) is what is really bothering me :( please any Information would be great.

Low 100s isn't all that high, so I guess there must be more to the diagnosis. Does it stay that high seriously all the time, walking around, eating, everything? How's your blood pressure? Does it drop when this happens?

I get occasional drops in blood pressure when standing up, which triggers heart rate to rise - went to 140 today for a few minutes when I stood up to get on the treadmill for my stress test. Amusing. But when my BP came back up I was fine. I was pretty dehydrated this morning, having to wait 3 hours for my turn.

I get tach unrelated to BP when I eat something with sulfites (SO3-). My rate went to 172 after I foolishly ate half a cream-filled doughnut. All that powdered sugar. (from processed corn) I did Valsalva maneuver, took an aspirin, and a small Inderal, per my doctor's advice. I needed a second Inderal and 2 hours to get back to normal.

I'm sure there are many more things to consider. This is just my story, not a diagnosis.

hi jess, a bit of postral drop? some non heart related meds can cause this, as well as alcie mentioned, blood pressure. have ya bp monitored. thx for sharing alcie. welcome jess.

Thanks guys - I'm slowly feeling a lot better. My blood pressure is good. I'm pretty sure the rapid heart rates is just my hearts way of healing from the heart ablation I had 5 days ago. I've begun taking .25 of Xanax a day to keep my body from freaking out and making my heart even worse - so hopefully this will pass in a few weeks - I miss the gym !

I had ablation for svt in the beginning of the year. (I have episodes every day)
I can totally relate! It's funny because my name is Jessica, I'm 28 with 2 boys, and in good shape. lol
Just thought it was funny how alike we sound. Anyways, after my ablation I went back to the docs, 2 days post op, because every time I did anything, my heart raced. I would simply stand up, and my heart rate jumped. I felt in worse shape than before the surgery and I freaked. I couldn't do much more than lay around. I wanted to let you know that it DOES get better. I think a week after surgery is when my heart stopped racing every time I moved. It'll get better, just needs time to heal but they never told me to expect that after surgery!
My cardiologist actually just called me today because she wants to do a second ablation. UGHH :(

That is so funny that how much in common we have! Yes you are so correct, after one week I literally felt 80% better and after two I pretty much feel back to normal! If only they had told me what to expect I wouldn't have panicked like I did. haha. I hope your second ablation goes well! Sorry you have to go through that again, I hear they get easier. Take care
