Morning,
37 male here. Paternal and Maternal grandfathers passed away at age 47 and 65 from heart attacks. Parents still alive no heart disease.
I'm in good shape, don't drink, never smoked, eat healthy, stay active. Dealt with anxiety off and on in mid 20s. Went through quite a bit life changes in the last few years but anxiety was absent. Last 6 weeks had a great deal of anxiety due to relationship issues with girlfriend who I live with. Went to urgent care due to feeling shoulder/arm pain, shortness of breath, chest pain. EKG was perfect, BP was normal (high for me 130/80 or so), X ray was normal. Referred me to a cardiologist for a stress test due to family history. Also prescribed me xanax for anxiety (never have taken anything for it) which I took as needed.
Few days later, pain hurting again went to urgent care and had blood work done to see if heart attack/damage took place. Perfectly normal results.
Went to cardiologist who looked at me, asked a few questions and suggested I get a nuclear stress test (didn't say why and I forgot to ask). I was told that they only ask for such a test if they fear something serious which created more anxiety for me. That test is set for 10/19.
The last 6 weeks the only thing that has truly relaxed me is running on the treadmill. I feel pain before working out, no pain while on the treadmill/weights, and feel like $100 after. Last week while running i felt some discomfort in my chest which freaked me out as I know pain while exerting oneself isn't good at all. Boom, anxiety.
The last few days I feel pain while pushing on my left pectoral. Tender. I can push down gently and it hurts. Never happened before.
Really freaking out especially since my stress test is another week and half away. Any ideas? Suggestions? Experience with the above?
Thanks
